Schubert
This unique Series gives the young pianistan assortment of fine material from the mastercomposers for the piano. It fills a long feltwant in educational piano music, and is vir·tuallya miniature Schirmer's Library ofclassical piano music.
Each volume represents but one composerand contains a collection of his technicallyeasiest compositions arranged progressivelyas to difficulty.
The MASTER SERIES, intended for the"young in years" but equally suitable forolder folks "young in technique," differs fromremotely similar series as expressed in thefollowing sentence:
Every number of the contents waspenned especially for the piano by itscomposer. Each is given in its absolutely origJnal form without modification save for a slight shortening hereand there.-It is the piece exactly as itwas first composed. Needless to say, the
tasteless and uninspired arrangements fromoperas, symphonies and what not are entirelyomitted.
The Series is not all of one particular gradeof difficulty, simply because most of thecomposers did not write specific "chiidren'.!Jpieces" as did, for example, Schumann andTschaikowsky. Each volume is a reliableintroduction to the individuality and characteristic style of the master in question, andmay be taught as such.
The editing, fingering and pedal markingsare the last word from every modern stand4point. Another strong feature is the cleverbut short biographical preface by Mr. CarlEngel in each volume.
The MASTER SERIES FOR THEYOuNG should appeal irresistibly to allkinds of music teachers: the booksconstitute an educational group vainlysought and patiently awaited by themusical pu blic for many years.
