Executive Team:

EXECUTIVE

A Letter from Our President & COO

From year to year, we continually look at our programs in an effort to be intentional about meeting current needs and improving the adoption experience for all those we touch. 2015 was no exception. We took time to ask ourselves, “Whose lives are we impacting?”

With Gladney’s long history and heritage, it’s common for us to hear people say, “I’m a Gladney Baby,” or “I’m a Gladney Parent.” But who else is Gladney? After 129 years, we realize that Gladney reaches far beyond a couple who comes to us to start or grow their family, and far beyond an expectant mother who comes to us for help during an unplanned pregnancy. Gladney touches lives way beyond our adoption borders.

Gladney is not just a name and not just an organization. Gladney is a language of love, a global family that ties birth parents to adoptive parents, friends and donors to children, and ties all of us to a mission.

We believe that by finding a loving and caring home for every child in need, we are not only impacting the lives of that child, birth mother, and adoptive family, but all those they come in contact with each day. Friends made in school, careers chosen, passions followed, new families formed, and the list goes on and on. In one way or another, adoption touches all of us. In one way or another, we are all Gladney!

During the past year, hundreds of children began new lives in their forever families, hundreds of expectant mothers lovingly chose adoption, and thousands of you stepped forward and said, “I Am Gladney,” by providing generous support to our mission. What we do is not possible without YOU! Thank you for being our partner in their adoption journeys and in their journeys of life.

Janette Hunter2014-2015 BOARD CHAIRMAN & GLADNEY MOM

MISSIONA Letter from Our 2015 Board Chairman

Each of us joined the mission of adoption for different reasons and at different seasons in our lives. We are Gladney birth parents, adoptees, adoptive parents, staff, volunteers, donors, family members, and approved and waiting families. Regardless of how we support adoption or when we connected with Gladney’s mission, we are all part of the Gladney Family. We are all working to create bright futures through adoption.

This year, the Board challenged Gladney to refine its scope of services and to continue focusing on delivering the best possible experience for all those whom Gladney serves. Great strides were made to that end, and Gladney is well positioned to continue to build on that success.

Gladney provides hope, support, direction, education, and shelter; and for 304 children this year, Gladney provided forever families and a forever community. Gladney’s professional, empathetic, and passionate staff have a profound and intimate impact on those they serve. As they impact one life at a time for the better, that positive influence extends to their wider sphere of friends and families —not only for

this generation, but for those to come. When you support Gladney’s mission, YOU allow that work to continue. YOU make a difference together with Gladney. Serving with your time, sharing your story and heart for adoption, and giving financially all help Gladney provide loving homes for children, support to expectant mothers in need, and hope for couples who desire to grow their families.

As you read the following pages, my hope is you see your compassion in action and the life changing impact of your support. Creating bright futures through adoption is a work of the heart, and it takes each of us to make it happen. Together, we are Gladney.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Gladney Fund Board of Directors:

I was adopted by my family when I was a baby. I know about Gladney, and my parents tell me that we became a family because of the New Beginnings program. They also tell me all the time that they loved me before they even knew me, that they fell in love with me while holding me when I was a tiny baby, and that they still fall in love with me every day.

I may only be six years old, but I know how special adoption is. A lot of my parents’ friends and people they work with decided to adopt children after getting to know me and my family’s adoption story. I’m not taking all the credit, but adopted kids are kind of a big deal and touch the hearts of other moms and dads.

My parents wanted to do something nice to help more moms and dads adopt kids like me. They gave some money to Gladney as a present, and they told me it was because of me. I think that’s pretty cool.

My mom and dad teach me to do nice things, too. One nice thing we do together is pray. We pray for Gladney — for the birth mommies, for the kids, and for forever families.

Thanks for helping Gladney find families for kids like me!

The Gladney Cup

The 2015 Gladney Cup was held at the historic Olympic Club in San Francisco. In

addition to the golf tournament, guests enjoyed a weekend of activities, including sailing on the bay,

Alcatraz, the historic Pacific Union Club, and golf at TPC Harding Park. 228 golfers participated in the

tournament, and we had a total of 500 attendees at The Gladney Cup Champions Dinner. We are grateful

for our loyal supporters, who have formed friendships at The Gladney Cup through the years and who

make the event a fun time of reconnection, as well as new participants who learned about Gladney’s

mission for the first time. Showing the guests’ giving hearts and belief in Gladney, funds raised during the

weekend exceeded $700,000 net.

Special EventsGladney holds Special Events throughout the year to celebrate adoption, educate the public about our mission, and fundraise to support our services to expectant mothers, children, and adoptive families in the U.S., as well as aid to orphaned and vulnerable children in countries where we serve.

Gladney had the honor of being a Charity

Partner for the 2015 TCS New York City

Marathon. Our team of 6 runners included 2

Gladney Parents, 1 Gladney Birth Parent, and 3

Gladney Friends. They raised over $15,000 for

Gladney’s Superkids program! We are proud

of our team and appreciate their kind hearts,

advocacy, and physical perseverance. Because

of their support, our Superkids team will be

able to continue to improve care and outcomes

for children with special needs in international

orphanages and help more of those waiting

children to be united with forever families.

Gladney Parent and Friend, Jimmy Crawford, was our table

honoree as Outstanding Volunteer at the National Philanthropy

Day luncheon (pictured with his wife Dee Ann). He gives back

through countless hours, assisting with The Gladney Cup

Golf Tournament and Gladney’s Blossoms in the Rough Golf

Tournament. We admire his caring heart and servant attitude!
