TK vs. Kinder
Reggio Emilia Inspired Learning
The Reggio Emilia Philosophy and
ApproachThe Reggio Emilia philosophy and approach to early childhood education has developed and evolved as a result of over 40 years of experience within a system of municipal schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy.
Parents, who started the schools in the 1940s, continue to participate to ensure the schools reflect the values of the community.
The image of the child...
Children have preparedness,
potential, curiosity; interest in
relationships, in constructing their
own learning, and in negotiating with
everything the environment brings
to them.
This is our mini atelier where children are using a new medium, beans and herbs, to create their self portrait. Children look into the mirrors to see the details on their face.
When looking in the mirror, the girl noticed that she has white and blue eyes and was going to create that using the white beans and marker.

Students were invited to explore fall materials us-
ing their senses of touch,
sight and smell. Students
were supplied with sharpies
and watercolors to depict
their own version of what fall
looks like.
