Teaching Strategy
and Learning Theory
Teaching Strategy: The main teaching strategy that I used
throughout my lesson was modeling.
Modeling is when an individual’s thinking,
behavior or emotions occur by observing
another individual/model. To help my case
study learn, I modeled each step of the
fried rice recipe, so that my case study
could observe and imitate my actions.
Learning Theory: The main learning theory that I used throughout my
lesson was social cognitive learning theory. Social
Cognitive Learning Theory emphasizes modeling
and observation for influencing behaviors. Through
this theory, my case study was able to pay attention,
retain information while staying motivated and
perform the necessary steps for preparing fried rice.
Yum!
Why My Teaching
Strategy Worked Best!
My teaching strategy worked best because my case study was
able to learn by observing a model.
Through observational learning, my case study was able to
build his self-efficacy (If she can do it, I can do it!).
In addition, my case study performed all modeled actions
because he believed that it would result in a delicious pot of
fried rice!
