JOB TITLE: General Assistant
REPORTING TO: Stanwell Children’s Centre Manager
BASED: Stanwell Children’s Centre
HOURS: 12 hours per week (Mon & Thurs 9am-12pm + 6 flexi hours)39 weeks per year (TERM TIME ONLY)
SALARY: £8.00 per hour
Overall purpose:
To provide general support to the Stanwell Children’s Centre
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administration
To provide general administrative support including filing, preparing parent information packs, updating parent information folders, making telephone calls, preparing letters, well-baby clinic, welcome desk
Premises
To be responsible for ensuring that early learning resources are clean and in safe working condition
General
To work as a member of the Children’s Centre Team, supporting delivery of the programme and occasionally assisting in the delivery of work not specified in this profile

PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
Education, Training and Work QualificationsGood all round level of education and/or life experiences
Minimum level 2 qualification in English and Maths
A first aid certificate
Educated to A level standard or above
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAble to work constructively as a member of a team
Enthusiastic, tolerant and dedicated
Ability to undertake administrative tasks
Sound IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to work flexibly
Able to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work, empathise and communicate effectively with all sections of the community.
Understands clear boundaries
Good organisational skills to ensure that all aspects of the role are met.
Articulate and well presented
Good level of communication skills and a good standard of written English
Current valid driving licence and car
Able to speak other languages
Understanding of the role that children’s centres play in the community
Understand the issues faced by Surrey’s diverse communities and barriers to inclusion.
Relevant ExperienceSome experience working with families/children Experience of the charitable sector
Experience in dealing with the public by telephone and in person.
Experience in a children’s centre/school or similar environment
Administrative experience
Use of database software
