The Education, Science & Culture CentreIn May 2014 an agreement was signed between the Gozo College and UNESCO’s Permanent Delegation in Malta, re-establishing the Education, Science and Culture Centre (ESCC) in Gozo in collaboration with UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network. The Centre is housed at Dar il-Lunzjata, at the gateway to Gozo’s idyllic valley of Wied il- Lunzjata, between Victoria and Kercem.

The building and outdoor area is a hub of mixed educational experiences for students, educators and the wider community and can serve as a venue:

• where subjects (such as art, drama, music, PSD, science, health & safety and others) can be taught through hands on activities engaging body, mind and soul;

• to satisfy curiosity through interactive activi-ties and fieldworks;

• for training sessions and reflective practice (eg: seminars, professional development meetings, workshops etc);

• to socialise and create school networks;

• for fun and informative day out (graduation days, small school functions etc);

• Where activities such as country walks, bird migration observation and astronomy related observation sessions amongst others can be initiated.

The ESCC also assists schools/NGOs and educators in developing an active programme for their subject/s thus managing an ongoing calendar which implements the national curriculum goals and UNESCO’s educational agenda on a regional and national level.

UNESCO Projects being implemented by the Education, Science & Culture Centre:• World Heritage in Young Hands Project; • World-wide Day of Solidarity Project; • Think Globally act Locally Project; • Young Artists Project;• Observance of International Days and Years;• UNESCO related Public Lectures in Malta & Gozo
