JANUARY, 2014 Education and certification are paramount to your career. Welcome to 2014. As we start our 95th year as an affiliate of ISM, we have a great lineup of educational programming. Take a look at the upcoming schedule of offerings. The programming in both Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids is available to all affiliate members. They can attend either or both meetings each month. Please take advantage and attend those programs that interest you. In addition, there are three more free webinars coming from ISM between now and July. Continue to watch the website as those dates come up in February, April, and July. Registration is through ISM’s national website. We will provide the link on our website. We will be presenting two (free to members) seminars. The first one is for a half-day and is titled “Supply Your Future.” It will take a look at the following: 1. Introduction to Productively Thinking About the Future 2. Thinking about your future – What is your style? 3. Important technology changes and trends 4. Identifying Future Opportunities and Dangers 5. What does this crazy future mean for you? 6. What are you going to do about it? The second seminar will be “Contract Laws and Their Risks” which will be a full-day seminar. There is a total of 28 CEH hours scheduled for the balance of this year. If there are any members who would like to host a plant tour, please call me at 616.901.3788 or via e-mail: [email protected]. We would love to see your work place and hopefully learn about what it is that you do. Last year we had a very enlightening tour of the Van Andel Institute. We are attempting to engage college students in Supply Chain specifically as it pertains to ISM. We invited over 30 students from Grand Valley State to our joint meeting with APICS and CSCMP in November. Those in attendance had an opportunity to meet and talk with these individuals. And finally if anyone is interested in becoming a member of the board or a committee, please let us know. Elections are coming up in April of this year. Thomas Cole, C.P.M.
