School Applications
The local authority are now taking applications for
school places for the next academic year (2020/21). If you know of any child born
between 1/9/15 and 31/8/16 then their parents need to be applying for a
place now.
Parents can apply online by visiting:www.wakefield.gov.
uk/admissiontoschool.
The closing date for applications is 15th January
2020.
Robinwood Residential
The children had a great time during their recent activity residential and it was fantastic to hear from the centre of their excellent behaviour. The children enjoyed activities such as archery, team building exercises, a 3G swing, zip wires, trapeze, canoeing, piranha pool, dungeon of doom, crate challenge and much more. Thank you to the staff who gave up their time so that the children could enjoy this wonderful experience!
Big Me Day - Aspirations
Children across school have had many responses to their letters written on the Big Me Day we held recently including letters from a pet carer, a doctor, a nurse, an artist, Cadbury’s, TV vet Peter Wright, the RSPCA, a physiotherapist, a paramedic, a teacher, Yorkshire Wildlife Park the COO of British Dressage, Mary Berry and Strictly Come Dancing’s Shirley Ballas! We are excited to see what else comes through the letter box!
The Howard History Museum of Dinosaurs
The Howard History Museum of Dinosaurs was open for business for one day only showcasing the work completed by Year 1 in their recent topic.
The Year 1 museum staff enjoyed sharing their exhibits to all classes in school and their family members!
Cross Country Event
Well done to the children in Key Stage 2 who competed in the cross country event recently. The children did a fantastic job and came 2nd overall earning qualification to the West Yorkshire School Games event in March at Temple Newsam!

School Council – Junior Leadership Team
Last week we had our first school council meeting where we all voted for jobs. We discussed the Junior Headteacher, Junior Deputy Headteacher and Clerk. We all decided that for Children in Need we would come to school in bright colours. We also talked about recruiting new eco-committee members and chose Health and Safety Leaders. We also discussed things that have gone well that children have enjoyed. (Sol – Junior Headteacher)

Year 6 Class Assembly
Year 6 were wonderful when leading their class assembly recently. They shared their excellent knowledge of World War 2 and presented it in a clear and informative way which was very impressive. They shared examples of their writing, art work and finished with a demonstration of their African drumming skills!
Spooky Disco
The children enjoyed their ‘Spooky Disco’ prior to the half term break. Thank you to the HSA and staff involved in making this event a success.
Afternoon Tea
Children enjoyed receiving their special afternoon tea, the first of a half termly treat, in recognition of excellent behaviour and attitudes to learning through living our vision. Well done!
