The text set theme will be a skill, concept, or issue relevant to the elementary school curriculum in any subject content and aligned to the Maryland School Curriculum. The resources will include a variety of formats, ability levels, and genres; and they will collectively represent diversity and multiple perspectives. Candidates will create a Text Set Overview Chart and a Text Set Graphic Organizer to describe and visually illustrate how the resources relate to the Text Set theme. These tools will be useful for classroom teachers as they plan instruction using the Text Set, either independently or collaboratively with the media specialist.
