IRL: In Real Lifeby R.N. SandbergCommissioned by George Street Playhouse through a grant from theNew Jersey State Bar Foundation

From shared text messages, exploited secret photos and threatening onlineconversations, cyber-bullying reaches every facet of students lives and leads to

consequences everyone needs to face. IRL investigates how students can take an activerole to end cyber-bullying.

This production was by far the most relevant and well-orchestrated that Ihave brought to a school. The implementation of the technology was flawlessand engaged these middle-schoolers in a world that is very familiar to them.

New Kidby Dennis FoonBased on a concept by Jane Howard Baker, originally produced as New Canadian Kidby Green Thumb Theatre

for Young People, British Columbia. All rights should be directed to Green Thumb Theatre.

New Kidis the story of an immigrant family from a fictitious place called Homeland.

When the family arrives in America, they discover a new culture and unexpectedprejudice against Homelanders. This clever plays device has the Homelandersspeaking English and the Americans speaking a made-up gibberish language, allowing

the audience to understand what it is like to be overwhelmed by a new languageand new customs. New Kidaddresses language acquisition, prejudice, peer pressure,

and conflict resolution. New Kidis an excellent presentation for multi-culturalcelebrations, conflict-resolution programs, and school events with themes such asbullying, respect, and tolerance.

George Street Playhouse does it again! New Kid addresses prejudice and

bullying in ways with which students can identify and understand. Teacher, Copper Hill School, Ringoes, NJ

    Peacemakerby David Holman

The Blues and the Reds have lived on either side of the wall for decades. Interaction isforbidden and both communities live in an atmosphere of fear, suspicion, and mistrust. But

when Simp, a curious young Red, meets a Blue for the first time, they learn they have agreat deal to offer one another and an unexpected friendship blossoms. This 35-minuteplay is immediately followed by a 15-minute workshop, in which the teaching artists

discuss the themes of the play using age-appropriate activities. Peacemakerencourages the

audience to participate in a charming parable of our increasingly diverse society, promotingan end to prejudice based on what people look like and where they come from.

This program was fantastic! The children were totally enthralled andenthusiastic about the show Finally a show appropriate for K-2 with an

important message! C. Sbailo, K. Teacher, Ocean Acres Elementary
