1952Hillary climbs Cho Oyu (26,750 ft) A peak west of Everest. This is courage because that is a very tall mountain, in the top 10 tallest in

the world.

1953Hillary reaches the summit of Mt. Everest (29,028 ft) It is courage because that is the tallest peak in the world with very little natural oxygen

Timeline1960Hillary does tests on Mt. Makalu, high-altitude physical condition. That is courage because if something goes wrong then someone could die.

1958Hillary sets out to cross Antarctica's Polar Plateau. This is courage because of the bitter cold and the chance of frostbite.

He climbs Mt. Herschell (11,000 ft) in Antarctica. This is courage because it is so cold and the altitude raises the stakes

1981Hillary attempts to climb Everest again. This is courage because Mt. Everest is tall and he is climbing from a different side this time.

Character TraitsOne trait that Hillary has is

passionate. Passionate is red so the slide is red. He is passionate because He has climbed many mountains and if he didn’t get to the summit then he would try again later. Another trait was courageous and that is also red. He is courageous because he climbed the coldest, highest, most dangerous mountian in the world.

Character traits Hillary is goal-oriented and that color is blue.

He is goal-oriented because if he had a goal to reach a peak then he would at some time or another. He is also persistent, that color is blue. He is persistent because he would try until he reached the summit. He tried at Everest twice before he reached the summit. Edmund is very inspiring and that is yellow. He is inspiring because he was the first person to reach the summit of Mt. Everest. Another trait is intelligent and that is orange. He was smart enough to avoid ice falls and avalanches on his way up the mountain.

Special Room

If Edmund was to have a special room I think that it would have ice picks, a map of all the mountains he climbed, a bee keeping suit, and the news paper that had the story of his climb up Everest. The ice picks would be there because they are one of the most important tools in climbing. The map would be to remind him of all the climbs he had. The bee suit would be to remind him of home and bee keeping. The news paper would be to show that he was the first person to accomplish an amazing feat.

I think that he should get this award because he was the best climber when he climbed Mount Everest. It was one of the biggest feats ever accomplished.

South Pole PizzaPizzas are warm, and I bet that would have been nice on the south pole.

Artic Apple PieThere were artic temperatures at the peaks and at the south pole.

I chose Superstar by Lupe Fiasco because it is about people wanting to know the story and everybody wanted to know the story of

Mt. Everest when Hillary got back. Also the song is talking about cameras flashing and microphones, which people had at the base of Everest after the climb. People tried to buy the story for thousands of dollars.
