Referee Symposium

Referees for tournament register at www.TrackieReg.com/2019-EdmontonIntJudoRef

Location: 7 PM on Friday, March 8 at the Executive Royal Inn (10010-178th Street, Edmonton)

Contact information: Tammy Thornton at [email protected].

Officials perform a vital role in the sport of Judo at all levels

and are the constant third player on the mat. and, without

their presence, the matches would not happen. No matter

how you encounter Judo, the Refereeing Symposium is

designed to provide useful tips and information for personal

development and training and will help ensure that both

you and the athletes know the rules. Success on the mats is

a function of understanding the nuances of these changes

and how it will affect the matches and the activities of the

players. We highly recommend that all referees and

interested high-level coaches consider this a must-attend.

Kata Clinic (The “Black Box”)

Register on www.TrackieReg.com/2019-EdmontonIntJudo

10 AM–4 PM on Friday, March 8 at Tokugawa Judo Club (9647-62 Ave NW, Edmonton)

$20 per registrant + processing fee

Have you ever entered a Kata competition, and then were surprised by

the score? Do you want to enter a competition, but are not sure what

to do to achieve higher scores? Sometimes Kata competitions seem

like a “Black Box” – we put our Kata into the box, mysteries occur, and

a score comes out the other side! Join Gord Okamura and Kelly Palmer

(Canadian Champions, 5th at October 2018 IJF World Kata

Championships in Cancun; attendees July 2018 week-long Kodokan

Kata Clinic in Tokyo) for a one-day clinic. They will take the lid off the

“black box” and talk about what judges and Grading Boards look for!

The Clinic will include:

➢ The most common errors in any Kata.

➢ What Judges look for and want to see.

➢ Based on your demonstration, steps you can take to improve your Kata performance.

A time schedule will be sent out before the clinic. Any questions, ideas or thoughts can be sent to Gord Okamura at

[email protected] or Kelly Palmer at [email protected].
