Dr. Daniel Kuy Is An Innovator In Advanced Techniques In Europe And The United States. In the rapidly changing medical field, Dr. Kuy also brings a point-of-view about his profession. Historic advances in public health, medicine and wellness are enabling people to live dramatically longer, healthier and more productive lives. According to the Center for Disease Control, the average life expectancy in 1900 was 47 years, in the year 2000 it was 77 years. Therefore, from a public health perspective, plastic surgery is not a vanity issue, but a societal health and well being issue. According to Dr. Kuy, “Cosmetic plastic surgery and the advances in skincare products and procedures are the necessary back end of the curve of advances in health, medicine and longevity science. Our techniques will only get better, more subtle and be increasingly focused on wellness and prevention.” As a result of this trend, many health care providers are migrating into the cosmetic plastic surgery profession - oral surgeon, vascular surgeon, dentist and dermatologist. And while there is room for growth, many do not have the balance of surgical skills and aesthetic sensibilities to be successful. The motto at Kuy Plastic Surgery is Swiss precision. This is not just a simple marketing slogan. Dr. Kuy is from Switzerland and performs precise surgery paying attention to fine details. Dr. Kuy has been named by the Consumer Research Council of America as one of “America's Top Surgeons” and in Strathmore Who's Who registry of “ Individuals Who Have Demonstrated Leadership and Achievement in Their Profession.” Dr. Kuy's point-of-view on the changes in the profession and his role in it is clear. “ At the end of the day, my role as a medical doctor is to guide and enable a patient to realistically appear, as they perceive themselves.” - Diplomate, American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc. - Diplomate, American Board of Surgery - Fellow, American College of Surgeons - Fellow, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery - Member, American Medical Association - Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery - Member, Swiss Surgery Society - Member, Swiss Medical Association - Member, Swiss Surgical Association - Member, Medical Association of the district Zurich and Dietikon - Member, Medical Society of Zurich, - Member, Attending Physician Society of Zurich - Past Section Chair, Department of Plastic Surgery-ENT-Ophthalmology, - St. Elizabeth Health Care Medical Center International Professional Associations: Kuy Plastic Surgery, Inc. www.kuyplasticsurgery.com “Cosmetic surgery is not about style or being more youthful. Dr. Daniel Kuy, M.D. brings something special to the patients in his successful, highly respected, cosmetic plastic surgery practice. He brings a multicultural point-of-view. It is a perspective based on being a plastic surgeon in the Tri-State area with an active practice both here and abroad, in Zurich, Switzerland. The advantage of being a physician living and practicing in Europe and in the United States is the exposure to differing procedures, innovations and professional colleagues. “ I am often experienced in new technologies and surgical procedures years before they are approved for use in the United States. Ultrasonic liposuction is a good example. I was trained under a pioneer in the technique, Dr. Vogt in Zurich, and performed the procedures many times before it was available in the United States.” Use of Restylane®, Artefill®, Juvederm® and Radiesse,® highly effective materials for wrinkle correction and lip enhancement, are other examples. Dr. Kuy has used these products in cosmetic procedures hundreds of times prior to arrival in the U.S. “ Also, I am very experienced in using highly Cohesive Form Stable Silicone Gel breast implants, which have been proven safe in Europe and finally became FDA approved in 2012." Thanks due to the study research efforts of a few selected plastic surgeons, including Dr. Kuy, these implants are now available in the U.S.

Dr. Kuy (pronounced Koo-ey) has been practicing in Cincinnati for over 18 years. Dr. Kuy is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and American Board of Surgery. Dr. Kuy is also a Board Certified Surgeon in Switzerland. He trained at the well-recognized Craniofacial Center of the University of Illinois at Chicago and an expert in facial rejuvenation, breast augmentation and body contouring surgery. In his Switzerland practice, Dr. Kuy performs mainly facelift and eyelid surgery.

Dr. Kuy’s multicultural point-of-view is also aesthetic. Aesthetics is the branch of philosophy dealing with the nature, creation and appreciation of beauty. Beauty is a universal concept, but it is also culturally defined. Sometimes what is perceived as beautiful by the culture, may instead be fashionable, and thus temporary. Having the perspective of being both a cultural insider and outsider has greatly aided in the counseling and emotional aspects of the practice.

One would not need to see Dr. Kuy in a lab coat with a stethoscope to surmise he is a surgeon. He has a poised focused posture, probing eyes, and an intuitive comfortable manner. His hands are expressive – and like an artist or musician, knowledge seems to reside in the fingertips. He has a self-awareness of his skills and his judgment, “ I will always take the time to do it right, to make the outcome a lasting solution that appears natural.” Growing up in Zurich, Switzerland, Dr. Kuy was exposed to the aesthetic preferences of many cultures through his school life and work life in a metropolitan hub of Europe. He developed an appreciation for the beauty in nature during travels throughout Europe, outdoor sports, and family vacations in the Swiss Alps. Likewise, over time, he fostered an appreciation of beauty in the arts – jazz improvisation, classical music, opera, contemporary art and theater. Religious studies taught him to see the spiritual beauty of God’s plan. Dr. Kuy began to imagine how he could have a hand in maintaining and enhancing a natural beauty of the human face and form.

In Dr. Kuy’s own life, he sought balance between his diverse interests. In his work as a plastic surgeon, he seeks a balanced outcome for his patient-development of appealing form while maintaining individual character, a noticeable improvement, but never a drastic change. That is why he is genuinely interested in getting to know each and every one of his patients – it is their own unique motivations, hopes, and aesthetic perspective that shape and inform his medical decisions and surgical approach.

“ I will always advocate the least invasive, most conservativeapproach that may or may not require surgery.”

At the end of the day, my role as a medical doctor is to guide and enable a patient to realistically appear, as they perceive themselves to be.”
