IT’S YOUR CHOICE! Throughout the month of August Rembrandt will be running an important awareness campaign (for everyone interested in aged care (including consumers, family members and staff) to help people understand that having choice about life and having these decisions respected is an essential right of everyone, particularly aged care consumers.
This means that as much as possible that decisions are made by consumers themselves, not family members or services providers.
This week we took our “It’s Your Choice” education campaign directly to our residents holding an information session and discussion specifically on Choice! All adults have an equal right to make decisions about things that affect their lives and to continue to make those decision as they get older.

This month’s meeting The Board met on Wednesday 31 July 2019 at Rembrandt Court.
The Board discussed the Annual Board Performance Evaluation Planning which will take the form of survey questions similar to last year except for some minor modifications thereby enabling comparison of this year’s results with the previous year. The Board also considered other options of Board Performance Evaluations however, the consensus was that the Board is effective, works well as a team and has the right skills mix therefore agreed to the questionnaire rather than engaging external sources. Board also discussed the spot visit by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission which occurred just four days in from the commencement of the New Standards. Rembrandt Living is committed to the requirements of the Standards and is embarking on a marketing campaign “It’s my Choice” to enlighten residents, families and communities of each individual consumer’s choice to actively participate in their day to day care through their Care Plan. The Strategic Plan for 2019-2022 was discussed raising the questions ‘as an aged care provider what do we need to achieve and how can our achievements be measured’. The CEO will present a second draft of the Strategic Plan to Board at the next meeting. A number of Board Directors attended the staff function held on Friday 28 June at the Highway and reported that they enjoyed the event and that all staff were very positive about Rembrandt Living as an organisation as well as a very positive attitude to their employment and their role within Rembrandt. The CEO agreed that it was a successful evening with many staff attending across different cultures and departments. The Board also reported that renovations at the Home Care Hub are progressing well with Allied Health services commencing upon completion of works.
Meet Director Etienne Scheepers
Etienne’s extensive career includes roles as Deputy Chief Executive for the Department for Child Protection, Executive Director (Workforce Innovation & Reform) for Health Workforce Australia and Executive Director for SA Health’s Workforce Division. Etienne has a Bachelor of Arts, a Law Degree, Master of Philosophy degrees and post graduate qualifications in leadership and management from various international universities. Etienne joined the Board in February 2016.
The next Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday 28 August 2019 at Rembrandt Court.
