Scania Australia has launched Australia’s safest truck range with the introduction of the New Truck Generation family comprising P-, G-, R- and S-series cabs, all of which are available in either Euro 5 or Euro 6 emissions compliance.

These new trucks are focused on the long and medium haul markets (S-, R- and G-series) as well as urban distribution (P-series), the new XT bulk construction materials handling range, and the fire services-friendly four-door, six-seater Scania CrewCab.

Scania’s famous modular drivetrain components have been thoroughly renewed to deliver significant fuel economy savings compared with the already efficient vehicles they replace.

Scania’s in-house gearbox range is now fitted with a layshaft brake to speed up gearchanges for smoother and more frugal performance.

Together with significant advances in aerodynamic design, the mechanical upgrades deliver at least 5% better fuel efficiency across the range.

Scania has introduced a new 7.0-litre Euro 6 engine for P-series applications, while the heavily revised and updated, cleaner and more frugal 9.0-litre 5-cylinder, 13-litre 6-cylinder and 16-litre V8 engines are all offered in Euro 5 and Euro 6 guise.

Scania's Bus Service Exchange programme delivers a new engine

complete with a 2-year warranty.

Scania is giving hard-working buses a new lease on life with a new workshop Service Exchange programme that provides a factory-reconditioned engine with a 2-year warranty.

The Scania Service Exchange programme is carried out by the Scania branch workshop closest to the customer and is designed to save time and money. It is ideal for route buses or interstate coaches that may have clocked up significant kilometres in a chassis that may be only halfway through its working life.

The Scania Service Exchange programme saves time by replacing the traditional model some operators have followed of performing an in-chassis reconditioning of their engines at their own workshops. Traditionally this has meant having the vehicle off the road for up to 4 weeks. Scania’s alternative is to provide a 3-day turn-around for the installation of the replacement engine.
