Anna WhealingEDEN COURTCREATIVE AMBASSADOR FORGOLSPIE HIGH SCHOOL

Why did you want to become anAmbassador?Living in a remote village, I have always found the lack ofopportunities for creative arts frustrating. I love dance and dramaand Iwanted to find away ofbringing all aspects ofthe performing arts closer tomy local area. I feltworkingwith EdenCourt as aCreativeAmbassadorwould help to generate interest for the arts inmy area. I was also excited about gettingthe opportunity to be involvedwith projects in EdenCourt.

What do you enjoy about working with Eden Court CREATIVE?TheCREATIVE teamatEdenCourt are extremely enthusiastic and great toworkwith. They are alwayswilling to help you to encourage the artsin your area.AsAmbassadorsweare able to assistwith events that theCreative teamare running, and as a result you really learn a lot aboutorganisation ofcreative projects.

What kind ofchallenges have you experienced as anAmbassador? The real challenge is to generate enthusiasmabout projects and events put on inmy area. I find it hard to bring asmuch to the role as I would likebeing so far away fromEdenCourt. Many schools and communities havewell grounded dramagroupswhichmean communication betweenEdenCourt and the area ismuch easier.

What has been your favourite moment as anAmbassador?TheCreativeAmbassadorsmeet regularly to discuss events and opportunities.Thesemeetings are great because you get to talkwith peoplewho are enthusiastic about the arts, everyone is friendly andwealways have a good time.TheAmbassadors also get to see productions that arerunning in EdenCourt at the timeofourmeetings, this is always a fantasticway to round offthe day and afterwardsweare able to talkwith theprofessionals involved in these shows.

What other opportunities does Eden Court offer you? With each newmeeting there are newopportunities forAmbassadors to get involvedwith. There is always a large range that covers dance, drama, back stagework, filmwork and so on.Recently I have been given the opportunity to assistwith the production oftheNess IslandsHalloween event, and I did back stagework for thePivotal dance festival. I will also be helpingwith the running oftheBurns night event. All these opportunitiesdefiantlymake being anAmbassadorworthwhile, alongwith theways you can becomeactive in your community, and I would recommend theAmbassadorProgramfor anyonewith a passion for the arts.
