Students will be given a copy of the vocabulary and study guide to fill out.Students will also complete the lesson review at the end of the lesson on page 9

    by themselves.

Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. To make sure that students have learned the concepts from this lesson, (whyauthority and laws is important in the community) students will be answering the

critical thinking questions that are in the teachers edition of the book by

themselves. This shows that they have understood the concept.

    G. Reflection:1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach?

What a community is and what roles are in the community.

    2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? What the laws are in the community, what authority is and what the importance of

    each is.

    3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson?I will have the students read the poem on page 12 and then they will do the

language art activity that is in the teachers edition of writing their own poem

about their community from a first person point of view.

    4. What can you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? As a whole group we will use the word map that is mentioned on page 9 toreteach what community consists of.

    5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change?I think I might need to split teaching what a community is and authority and law

into two different lessons so that it doesnt confuse or overwhelm students.

    6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part?Finding the objectives to go with my lesson was the most difficult part of making this

    lesson.
