hen selecting the right college, students and parents rightfully seek the best possible education for their investment. Your college wish list might include a nationally-recognized institution with affordable tuition, diverse programs, flexible schedules and a convenient location. Some colleges may offer a few of these, but TCC delivers them all!

TCC consists of five campuses, conveniently located in Fort Worth, Hurst and Arlington, ensuring the right class time and curricula are close, no matter where you live. With more than 250 online courses, as well as weekend courses, TCC also makes it easy for students to complete their credits at times convenient for them. Whether you are seeking college credit courses, business/industrial training or personal enrichment, TCC offers the programs you need to reach your idea of success. TCC is regionally accredited, meaning that when you are ready, core curriculum credits transfer easily to most four-year colleges.

TCC is the sixth-largest college or university in Texas, and the 15th-largest in the nation, yet maintains a 26:1 student-to-professor ratio, allowing our students to receive the personal attention generally attributed to much smaller institutions. Most TCC professors also have extensive practical experience in the subjects they teach. In addition to award-winning faculty, students have access to state-of-the-art classroom technology and programs consistently recognized among the best in the nation. TCC offers more than 70 academic and technical programs from which to choose.

With eLearning and weekend courses, class is always in session at TCC. By attending TCC’s new Weekend College, students can earn their associate degree in 18 months or less, just by going to class on the weekend.

Don’t want to pay big university prices to get the basics under your belt? The average cost for students enrolled in 15 credit hours at TCC is $825, compared to $3,400–$17,300 for the same core curriculum at other local schools. Students often change majors in their first two years, but TCC eliminates the fear of sacrificing thousands in additional tuition dollars for students who change their course of study.

No matter your age or challenges, success is within reach at TCC. Students are provided with the best facilities, instruction and support services to help them succeed. They also benefit from a vibrant college atmosphere that includes a broad array of extracurricular clubs, associations and campus fitness facilities. As our students reach the end of their careers with TCC, career coaches help them identify their best career path after graduation. Local businesses know and respect TCC’s methods and instructors, and often come to us looking for new graduates, or send their existing employees to TCC for further training.

TEXAS STATE HISTORICAL MARKER DEDICATION CEREMONYat Chennault’s birthplace in Commerce, Texas

Historic events don’t happen often, but on October 14, 2015, dignitaries and historians, faculty and students, community members and friends from Texas and beyond, will gather to witness the unveiling of the first Chinese-language historical marker in Texas nestled in the birthplace of Lt. General Claire Lee Chennault.

This marker is a celebration of Chennault and the Flying Tigers American Volunteer Group of which he was organizer and commander. It was with their assistance that the people of China undertook a legendary defense of their homeland in the China-Burma-India theater of WWII.

“I am extraordinarily proud of the role that Texas A&M University-Commerce has played in ensuring that the legacy of this native son is properly recognized and celebrated,” said Texas A&M University-Commerce President Dan Jones.

A marker in English was placed at this location in 1968, but the new marker in Mandarin translates the original to make it accessible to a wider international audience by including one version in traditional script and another in the Mandarin script adopted by the People’s Republic of China.

This marker commemorates a local hero, but also reminds residents, students, and all who view it to explore and reflect upon global ties that connect us to the wider world. It also encourages all of us to look for the stories of others from our own back yards whose experiences extend far beyond the region and the state’s borders.

Just 30 minutes south of Fort Worth!

Founded in 1893, Southwestern Adventist University is a modest sized campus big on vision. With 58 majors and an average class size of 12, students receive hands-on training from professors who are experts in their fields. In addition to baccalaureate degrees, Southwestern offers three master’s programs in education, business, and psychology. Southwestern has always had a reputation for being super-friendly with a rich campus diversity. This has attracted students from 43 other countries, as has the green, residential campus located only 30 minutes south of DFW. For 122 years, Southwestern Adventist has also emphasized spiritual well-being, academic mentorship, and healthy living. Community outreach, Christian music concerts, spring-break mission trips, and residence hall chapel services are just a few of the faith-based events popular among students. Students of all faiths are welcome. Academically, Southwestern’s programs find support through the Center of Academic Success and Advising, which enables students to gain needed skills to compete in today’s workplace. The University has a new Fire Science degree. The business department’s Enactus team has won 13 regional championships and the nursing department is home to a simulation center. A campus-writing center provides extra assistance on essays, projects, and term papers. The communication department boasts a TV station and a radio station, the later reaching over 80,000 listeners in the DFW area. The biology and geology department is home to South-western’s Dinosaur Research Project with a collection of over 20,000 bones excavated from a private dig in the Wyoming planes. In recent years, 100% of the graduates in business, communication, computer science, education, English, math, music, and theology have quickly found a job or enrolled in a master’s program in the first year after graduation.
