ABYSSAL

• Abiotic factors- Sediment, volcanic ash, chemical precipitation, and wind blown dust.

• Biotic Factors- oarfish, giant squid, viper fish, deep sea shrimp and cusk eel.

ABYSSAL

• Limiting factors- amount of sunlight, and pressure.

ABYSSAL

• Viper fish- salt water fish, long needle teeth, hinged jaw, 30-40 year life span. Carnivore. Top predator.

• Giant squid- Deep ocean dweller. 8 species. Hunts deep sea fish. Rare to see.

• Oar fish- 10-50 feet long. Lives 30,000 feet below sea level. Largest boney fish in the sea. Carnivore. Secondary consumer.

• Abiotic- hot dry summer, cold moist winters, poor soil, and periodic fires.

• Biotic- Coyotes, mule deer, jack rabbit, honey bees, scrub oak, yucca.

CHAPARRAL

• Kangaroo-Tail for balance, front limbs smaller, large ears, 5 digits on their hands. Acute sense of smell, sight, and hearing. Powerful legs. Eats autotrophs.

• Elephant- Tusks, rough skin, big ears

• Rattlesnake- poison, shedding skin, cold blooded, eats other animals
