In general, environment refers to thesurroundings of an object.

Environment may refer to: The natural environment : all living and

non-living things that occur naturally on Earth

Built environment:constructedsurroundings that provide the setting for human

activity, ranging from the large-scale civicsurroundings to the personal places

It also seen as developed countries versus developing countries.

Developed countries polluting environment for their wealth.

Developing countries such as China and Brazil,India point outthat they must make industrialisation and economicdevelopment a priority because they have to support their

growing populations.

Economic activity, both production and consumption,relates to the environment in two fundamental ways -- we draw resources (both renewable and non-renewable) from the environment to produce goodsand services, and we emit wastes into the

environment in the process of both producing andconsuming.

Due to the economic activities the naturalenvironment suffers.

We have already wasted and destroyed vast amountsof natural resources, and so doing this we have putearth at risk.We must preserve the earth for nextgeneration. Destroying the rainforest gives nativepeoples nowhere to go except urban slums. Polluted

water can lead to crop failures. Climate change ,will

turn fertile fields into desert and flood in coastal areaswhere hundreds of millions live. Developing countrieshave to choose sustainable development if they wanta future for their people.

No one wants to stop economic progress that could give millionsbetter lives.

But we must insist on sustainable development that combines

environmental care, social justice and economic growth.

Companies in developed countries already have higher costs of

production because of rules to protect the environment.

Population growth has a negative impact on any nation, as well

as on the whole planet.

Both the poverty and the environmental problems of sub-Saharan Africa are largely the result of rapid population growthputting pressure on limited resources.

At the same time China has become wealthy while following aone-child per couple policy.

Limiting population growth will result in a higher standard ofliving and will preserve the environment.

Nations are losing more from pollution than they are gaining

from industrialisation.

China is a perfect example.Twenty years of uncontrolled

economic development have created serious, chronic air andwater pollution.

This has increased health problems and resulted in annuallosses to farmers of crops worth billions of dollars.

So uncontrolled growth is not only bad for the environment, itis also makes no economic sense.

BUT,

Economic development is vital for meeting the basic needs ofthe growing populations of developing countries.

Obviously the world would be better if all nations stuck to strictenvironmental rules.The reality is that for many nations suchrules are not in their interests. For example, closing Chinashuge Capital Iron and Steelworks, a major source of pollution,

would cost 40 000 jobs.The equal application of strict

environmental policies would create huge barriers to economicprogress.

Green industries nurtured by the environmentalmovement -- recycling, green building, renewable energy,eco-tourism, organic agriculture, and so on -- are growingat twice the rate of the rest of the economy, creating new

markets worth billions of dollars and millions of new jobs.

The new industries is developed. From that people getbenefited in both terms clean environment and get

employment.
