Welcome to the new Fireline Stove BrochureOnce again, I am very pleased to offer you a personal introduction to the latest Fireline stove range brochure – this time introducing the exciting high-specification Purevision™ range to the Fireline stable alongside the hugely successful standard FX and FP range.
During the 25 years I have worked in the domestic heating and fireplace industry it has changed out of all recognition. For the last 14 years, I have been gradually focusing more on stove developments as we have witnessed the resurgence of solid fuel and particularly wood logs as a practical and economical everyday choice for the householder.
Fireline’s base here in Telford is only a stone’s throw from the birthplace of the industrial revolution at Coalbrookdale and the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, where the very beginnings of modern industry were forged. Born and brought up in the West Midlands, it is very satisfying to be a small part of the great British industrial story, designing and developing wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves specifically for the UK household.
Fireline wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves incorporate patented and patent pending advanced firebox combustion technology developed exclusively in our own Telford laboratory, which results in our cleanest burning, most efficient stoves yet. Our wood-burning stoves begin at 77% efficiency - where other products peak - and rise to 82.2%, but thermal efficiency is only a small part of the story. It is easy to have highly efficient wood burners with less than optimum carbon monoxide (CO) and other flue gas emissions – something we are not at all satisfied with at Fireline. For this reason we have spent significant development time and invested to create the remarkable future-proof Purevision™ range of stoves, which already meets EU EcoDesign directive proposals for wood burning anticipated for 2022.
Our combustion technology is developed to harness the unique Fireline designed airwash system as an integral part of the system and not just an add-on like older designs of stove. All Purevision™ models also incorporate a brand new tertiary air-profiling system to increase the completeness and efficiency of combustion throughout the burn cycle and enhance the high-definition flame picture that characterises these models. During testing of DIN+ particulate emissions from the Purevision™ 5kW wide model the Kiwa Gastec laboratory staff commented that
it was the cleanest wood burner that they had tested to date. The result is performance amongst the very best stoves in Europe - not just the UK - to reassure you that you are doing your very best for the environment as well as your pocket.
All but the smallest Fireline 4kW wood-burning model have DEFRA exemption for burning logs in smokeless zones, something of a formality for Fireline when clean burning is designed and developed into the products from conception.
Our stove performance is the result of constant investment in research and development. Fireline’s 100% British 3D CAD designs are produced using the best materials and exacting assembly standards. Materials are selected using quality cast iron, stainless steel, mild steel, ceramic glass and high-grade heat resistant coatings. Purevision™ models also incorporate a high-quality hard-wearing ceramic firebox lining system capable of producing the intricately tooled casting details required and having self-cleaning ability. Using the latest CNC laser-profiling and press-brake technology together with seam welding and traditional iron founding techniques, Fireline stoves are designed, manufactured and independently certified to meet BS EN13240 and EN13229, in compliance with our ISO9001 accreditation.
Wood burning using a modern Fireline high performance stove is not only environmentally responsible but the powerful heating effect combined with the warm ambience of the flame pictures from our huge air washed glass panels simply cannot be beaten.
Fireline stoves are designed and engineered to be extremely efficient and environmentally friendly. In order to get the full potential from our stoves we recommend using top-quality fuel. For environmentally responsible production coupled with reliable and consistent high quality we recommend kiln dried firewood by Certainly Wood. See www.certainlywood.co.uk for further details.

Fireline FX5W & FP5W multi-fuel stovesThe FX5W & FP5W give the large looks of the 8kW wide screen stove but maintaining the nominal heat output at 5kW. This is achieved by a subtle reduction in depth of the grate area whilst the overall 500mm width of the stove is the same as the larger 8kW model. This means that full 14.5” logs (375mm) can be accommodated on the standard multi-fuel grate, which incorporates a rotary riddle mechanism using well proven principles. With a firebox lined with compressed vermiculite insulating board and Fireline’s own patented firebox air supply technology, clean burning was assured from the beginning – CE and DEFRA compliance were formalities. 79% efficiency ensures top levels of fuel economy and the highly effective, proven Fireline airwash system gives fabulous views of the fire through the large glass panel.

Ideally suited to larger rooms, these stoves can pump out a really serious amount of heat. Both stoves have exactly the same specifications, except for the door design, where you have a choice of either a square or a curved door feature. Whichever one you choose, the extra-wide flame picture will enhance even the biggest room.

FPi5T stove with solid cast iron door shown in limestone Stonehenge with black granite hearth and back panel
Fireline FPi5T & FGi5T multi-fuel stovesFPi5T and FGi5T is a 16” multi-fuel tapered stove design, which was driven directly by requests from customers for a much-improved view of the fire in an easy-to-fit tapered stove firebox. With its very large ceramic glass panel, this model differs from every other 16” tapered stove on the market by giving the customers the maximum possible fire view in its size class. Performance has not been compromised either due to the advanced combustion chamber design easily achieving DEFRA exempt performance and 80% efficiency with clear glass provided by a powerful airwash. A full 5kW nominal rating on wood or smokeless fuel is the result, which provides an excellent choice for those not wishing to remove their tapered fireback. The stove comes with a choice of either a cast iron door or a modern fully glazed black glass door.

Fireline FPi5W & FGi5W wood-burning stovesFPi5W is a mid-sized 5kW rectangular inset wood stove designed to fit 20” fireplace openings to neatly offer a mid-sized firebox unit retaining a 5kW nominal rating. The firebox technology is well adapted to this size thereby maintaining 80% efficiency and DEFRA exempt standards of clean combustion. Although wood burning only the stove retains the convenience of a rotary grate to drop ash into a high-quality stainless steel ashpan, so no compromise on ash removal over a multi-fuel stove is necessary. It comes with a choice of either a cast iron door or a black doubled glazed glass door.

The Purevision™ HD range comprises six models, three freestanding and three inset, with stand and log store options available for the freestanding versions and three- or four-sided trims for the insets. The models are sized as 5kW standard, 5kW wide and 8.5kW nominal output. They contain technologically advanced patent- pending design features that result in super-clean burning performance and thermal efficiency of up to 82.2%.
Emissions meet EU leading DIN+ levels and already achieve current emission and efficiency proposals for 2022 European Eco-Design standards, which are far tougher than current mandatory norms. DEFRA exemption for wood-burning in a smokeless zone was a formality, with test results up to 97% below permitted levels of visible smoke.
Design parameters have been reset to produce a huge glass panel for fire viewing, framed by a substantial yet elegantly curved cast iron door, the aesthetics of which blend seamlessly with traditional or modern rooms and fireplaces. The glass panel is kept clean by the extremely powerful airwash system.
Purevision™ HD is the result of Fireline’s ongoing endeavours to improve the state of the art in wood-burning combustion chamber design. High Definition (HD) means an improved visual resolution over the previous standard and Purevision™ achieves this by harnessing the airwash and specialised tertiary air-profiling within the burn chamber for superbly sharply defined flames and complete combustion.

Quality stoves are much more than just a metal box at the bottom of the chimney. Considerable efforts are required to ensure that the stove can be thermally efficient and many further developments are required to make a stove fully clean burning. Stoves are often incorrectly considered ‘clean burning’ just because they have an airwash, but the hard truth is that even stoves with an airwash system and good thermal efficiency can still be dirty burners. Fireline stoves are both highly thermally efficient and genuinely clean burning, with DEFRA wood-burning exemption achieved on all 5kW and above models. Some of the following measures demonstrate just how well all our stoves burn wood.
FX/FP Stoves Technical Performance Details
Total efficiency is the overall effectiveness of the stove in converting the kW content of fuel into heat that you will feel in your room. This must be measured by an independent test house to BS EN 13240 or 13229 to be comparable with other stoves.
Total efficiency is not a measure of clean burning in any way. It is quite possible to have a stove with high thermal efficiency that burns with plenty of smoke, or a clean burning stove with low efficiency. However Fireline has worked especially hard to bring you a range of stoves that are both highly efficient and very clean burning. All our FX/FP stoves far exceed the minimum efficiency required by Building Regulations as the graph shows.

Particulates are microscopic soot, ash and other particles emitted in stove smoke and are an accurate measure of the cleanliness of the burn achieved within the firebox. Unlike other tests that only collect a fraction, this UK method electrostatically collects 100% of the particulates emitted during a whole burn cycle. A lot of stoves, especially cheap ones, have no control over what comes out of the chimney and so would not even come close to the limits required. However Fireline stoves easily exceed the requirements by a massive 50-78% as the graph shows. Particulates will be closely controlled by law in future due to concerns over health effects, so Fireline is putting in significant efforts to reduce these emissions on all its stoves.
Optical density is a measure of the visible smoke that a stove produces and is an indication of what might be seen at a chimney top once installed. This data is a measure of the cleanliness of the burn used for DEFRA smokeless compliance and relates directly to real clean burning. The graph shows that Fireline stoves burn very cleanly and do not exceed 0.2 density for anywhere near the permitted time. Our best stoves achieve less than 10% of the limit already, but as always Fireline will be looking to improve new models still further.

The UK’s limit for carbon monoxide emissions is higher than some other EU countries but this has not stopped Fireline putting considerable R&D effort into reducing CO. As the graph illustrates, even our very first stove designs were 40% below EN maxima and recent products achieve levels 80-85% below limits. It goes without saying that Fireline will continue to invest in R&D to strive for further reductions on all models.

PureVision™ Technical Performance DetailsFireline invests in a substantial programme of continuous research and development and the latest products to emerge are the high-performance, high-specification Purevision™ range of stoves incorporating new patent-applied-for tertiary air-profiling technology.
Aiming squarely at the future of efficient and sustainable wood burning, Charlton & Jenrick Ltd is pleased to announce the introduction of the Fireline Purevision™ range. The team here at Fireline has developed no-compromise examples of the latest batch-fed stove combustion technology, meeting or exceeding the toughest emissions standards in Europe - among the highest in the world - while maintaining state-of-the-art efficiencies of up to 82.2%. This level of performance was long thought to be nearly impossible, but here it is in production ready for you to enjoy the benefits while protecting the environment. Long gone is the theory that you need a dedicated wood burner rather than a multi-fuel stove for best possible combustion of wood - Fireline has once and for all solved that conundrum and transformed it into a myth.
Not satisfied with merely achieving technical excellence of combustion for environmental benefits, Fireline has incorporated a huge number of advanced features into all its products for ultimate ease of installation, operation and use in the home environment.
The range comprises both inset and freestanding models, a standard 5kW for efficient use of space, a substantial 5kW wide that cleverly maximises the fire view from a 5kW nominal output stove and a heavyweight 8.5kW for greater presence and flame picture impact. Externally the substantial cast iron door has elegant lines and sophisticated curves to complement a vast range of interior design or fireplace choices. Exceptionally large glass panels maximise the view of spectacular yet low-
emission wood combustion. For freestanding models, optional leg kits lift the profile of the convector body. Log store stands are available, delivering pedestal ease-of-use and ensuring maximum flexibility and adaptability for a broad spectrum of applications. Inset models retain all the aesthetic qualities of their freestanding counterparts, including large ceramic glass door panels and heavy-gauge top plates, and so avoid the compromises commonly associated with inset stoves. Every model uses patented tertiary air-profiling technology, cast with exquisite detail into the fine-quality high-durability ceramic firebox liners, and has a super-tough cast iron grate with rotary riddling. All stoves in the Purevision range have 5” flue connectors and connection options are maximised by providing top and rear outlets on freestanding models and large lintel clearance on inset models. A dedicated external air system (DEAS) fits all models enabling use of a direct flexible connection to outside air, effectively eliminating the need for air brick ventilators to comply with UK Building Regulations. Charlton & Jenrick is a member of the HETAS Technical Committee and the Purevision® stove range was among the first in the UK to have its DEAS tested for effectiveness as part of a HETAS research programme. Automatic door latches make the door a pleasure to operate with its broad handle made from brushed stainless steel. The single laser-etched air-control lever simplifies regulation of the fire with automatic air distribution for optimum burn.
Inside, most components are easily removable for cleaning and servicing without any tools. Stainless steel fixings and clips are used throughout for longevity.
A heavy-duty brushed stainless steel operating tool and stand, neat branded tool roll and high-quality leather stove gloves add superb details to the package, leaving nothing to chance.

Total efficiency is measured to well established methods from harmonised EU standards EN 13240 and EN 13229 and is an indicator of the ability of a stove to turn fuel into heat for you. Although sometimes misrepresented it is not in fact a measure of clean burning at all – always look at emissions data for that information. There are many clean-burning stoves available with low total efficiency and high efficiency stoves with poor emissions.
This graph also demonstrates the excellent clean burning characteristics of the Fireline Purevision® stove range during strictly controlled testing for DEFRA smokeless zone exemption for burning wood logs. Average optical density readings beat limits by up to 97% and average electrostatic precipitator particulate emissions exceed requirements by up to 75%.
