The 6th grade student of the week is Olivia Davis. Her favorite thing to do is play with her dog. The reason she thinks she is a good student is because she works hard. Her favorite subject is gym. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Barbara.

The 5th grade student of the week is Luke Jaggers. His favorite thing to do is play video games. He thinks he is a good student because he makes good grades. His favorite subject is science. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Nadina.

This is Mrs. Meghan Stidham she is the faculty teacher of the week with her daughter named Eliza. Mrs. Meghan was born in 1989 and she is 27 years old. The college she attended was Western Kentucky University. It took Mrs. Meghan 4 years to get her degree in elementary education, now she is a very successful 6th grade Language Arts teacher. The first school that Mrs. Meghan taught at was Oakland Elementary School. Mrs. Meghan got married June 9, 2012. Mrs. Meghan’s daughter was born December 10, 2014. Mrs. Meghan and her daughter like to play tea party and then they watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She has been married for almost five years and her husband is Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy.

AARP Grandparent Contest Winner Announced

A big congratulations to Averi Harris on her winning essay for the AARP writing contest. She wrote a moving essay about her grandmother and she will go on to compete at the state essay contest!

Hover Kicks

When it comes to the latest footwear of the season, Hover Kicks are what the kids are wearing. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for a boot or shoe, they are sure to have a style to fit any person’s taste. Also for those dark hallways or nightly walks on the city sidewalks they have a LED strip that lights up with the click of a button, which I may also add is customizable by different colors. The only downside to these shoes is that you have to order them online.

Hover Boards

While on the topic of Hover things, another thing that is very popular are Hover Boards. Hover Boards are self-balancing two-wheeled boards that are commonly referred to Hover Boards. They are portable, rechargeable, battery powered scooters. This device was founded in China 2014 and hit the United States 2015. The Hover Board is controlled by the rider’s feet.

Water Bottle FlippingWater bottle flipping is taking today’s children by storm, while their parents find it to be

downright idiotic and annoying. To play this game you take a water bottle by the neck that is about quarter the way full and flip it. It must land upright in order for you to win. If you are interested in trying this game out, studies recommend the Deer Park Brand, as they are easier to land.

Emojis

Emojis are small digital icons or images that you can use to help express a message or anything else. There are over 100 emojis you can choose from. They are used for about anything, and they have a lot of emoji merchandise. Everyone seems to love emojis and we definitely see why. Hopefully more and more emojis will be added.

HashtagsHashtags are used on Social Media to help find things easier. To make a hashtag you use

the number sign or pound sign. You put the sign in front of the word or words that you want to hashtag, if there are more than one word be sure to not space. They have always been used by about everyone. The Hashtag trend I’m sure will be going for a while.

DabbingDabbing is a type of dance move that started out in the Atlanta hip hop scene. Although it

started in hip hop, the Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton made the dab more of household move across the world. If you interested in learning to dab all you would have to do is put your head in your elbow and extend your arm out. This dance literally looks like you are sneezing. The Dab is a newly started trend and will more than likely be a longer trend. The urge to dab is unbearable.

George Lucas Makes Seventh FilmBy: Grant Merideth

Here recently, George Lucas made the seventh Star Wars film called “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. This movie has gotten everybody's attention around the globe. Rotten Tomatoes said this film was 92% out of 100%. Wade Luttrell of the Edmonson County ⅚Center said that he would make no change, and he liked it so much, he even watched it twice. Ty Brantley said that he would make some minor changes, but he said he would rate it 8.5 out of 10. Daren was on the same page as Ty, but Daren rated the film a 9.6 out of 10. Andrew Talley said that it was one of his favorite movies, and he rates it a 9.7 out of 10. However, he did mention that he would make a few changes. On the other hand, he loved how it was a good quality movie.

Some new events that are happening are…Trail Town committees meeting on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 at the EC public library.

Edmonson County Extension District Board & County Extension Council will meet on Monday, January 23rd, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Extension Office, 116 Mohawk Street. For more information, please call the office at (270) 597-3628.

The 2017 ECHS Basketball Homecoming is scheduled for Friday, January 27 vs. Butler County in a girl/boy doubleheader. Homecoming festivities will be held between games. The Lady Cat game is scheduled to tip off at 6pm.

The 2017 Presidential Inauguration is Friday, January 20th. It is at the Capitol Visitor’s Center in Washington D.C.

The B.E.T.A. Induction Ceremony. It is on Monday, January 30th 2017. At the ECHS.

Freedom Walkers Review

The book Freedom Walkers, which was written by Russell Freedman is an overall well written, good story. The main theme of the story is, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. It has been rated by 5 students that have read this story. They rated it 1-10 scale and the average rate is

a 7.7. Goodreads gave it a 4.1 out of 5 and Barnes & Noble gave it a 4.4 out of 5. Also, the story is mainly about blacks in Montgomery, Alabama that fought for their freedom and justice. We

It's always good to eat healthy. This recipe I have found for you today is very healthy and looks terrific. The recipe i have found for you is chicken quesadillas. You need a few ingredients for this dish and have a few steps to do. I hope that you like it.

This is a chicken quesadilla

You will need…

1. 1 pound skinless,Boneless chicken breast diced. Needs to be chicken breast boneless,chicken tenders, and chicken breast regular

2. 1 (1.27 ounce) fajita seasoning3. 1 tablespoon veggie oil4. 2 green bell peppers,chopped 5. 2 red bell peppers,chopped6. 1 onion chopped7. 10 (1o inch) flour tortillas8. 1 (8 ounce)package shredded Cheddar cheese 9. 1 tablespoon bacon bits 10. 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Instructions…1. Preheat the broiler, grease a baking sheet 2. Toss the chicken with the fajita seasoning, then spread on the baking

sheet. Place under the broiler and cook until the chicken pieces are no longer pink in the center,about 5 mins.

3. Preheat oven to 350 fahrenheit (175 degrees c)

4. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the green bell peppers and red bell peppers,onions,and chicken.Cook and stir until the vegetables have softened,about 10 minutes.

5. Layer half of each tortillas with the chicken and vegetables mixture,then sprinkle with cheddar cheese,bacon bits,and monterey jack cheese.

6. Bake quesadillas in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted,about 10 minutes.
