Employment Connection is working in partnership with the Pulitzer
Foundation for the Arts to present: Urban Renewal. This venture is a
unique furniture restoration and repair project featuring clients from
Employment Connection including the homeless, U.S. Veterans, ex-offenders, high school drop-outs, and other individuals with limited
opportunities to achieve self-sufficiency. Using only hand tools, clients
from Employment Connection have worked with artists from the Pulitz
Foundation to break down and recreate discarded bulk trash items such
as the chairs you see here.
Items that have been created will be showcased and sold on Saturday,
May 15, 2010 in the Grand Center area of downtown St. Louis. Start at
the Pulitzer Museum where you can view the amazing Gordon Matta-Clark exhibit "Urban Alchemy". Then grab your map and head out to
one of the four Pulitzer sponsored projects, including Employment
Connections Urban Renewal project, all showcasing a broad range of
surprising talent from local artists. For more information, visit
