•Ebro DeltaThe Ebro River is one of themost important rivers in

theIberian Peninsula. It is thesecond longest after the Tajo. The river has a totallength of 930 km.

The Ebro crosses six Spanish

regions: Cantabria, Castilla I

León, La Rioja, Navarra,Aragon and Catalonia.

• Its name derives from..Its name derives from the ancient toponym Bier, whichalso gives its name to the Iberian Peninsula and theIberian village. Indeed Greek colonists settled a littlenorth to the 575 a.C in the large colony of Ampurias (inpresent Gerona). Hence the term originally derived fromthe name Iberia same Ebro river.

•The formacion

The Ebro made its way to the Mediterranean fromThe lake area that corresponds to the current IberianDepression, the true current delta developmentdidn’t ot begin until the end of the last glaciationsand the subsequent rise of sea level.

In 1937 because of heavy floods, the Ebro opened anew passage to the north and has since beenabandoning the mouth. In 1946 has eroded theEastern and the western contiguous filling the actualmouth.

•VegetationIn the land of the Ebro can find various ecosystems,mountains, rivers and sea, where there are significantdifferences in vegetation.

Vegetation Ports: At higher elevations, the predominantpine and pine woodland which highlights accompaniedby a holly and juniper. Other species are beech, yew,maple, willow and aspen…

Vegetation of Delta:

The diversity of the ecosystem of the Delta formed in largeareas of vegetation in salt marshes, beaches, dunes,

lagoons,springs. Dominated by tamarisk, the reeds, the reeds andSalicomia, but there are also others such as palm navy rareLimoniastre the gram sea, beach, grass and lily of the sea.The vegetation of the Ebro delta, is unique in Catalonia, has515 different species.

•AnimalsFauna and mountains Ports:Without a doubt, the best known animal Hispanic goat withthe birds of prey like the vulture, golden eagle and thebooted eagle, endemic species in the Iberian Peninsula. Also note the selval cat, genet, wild boar, the viper and thesquirrel..

Waterways and aquatic wildlifeAquatic habitats are abundant in these regions, the numbers oftributaries and near Ebro river. They live herons, russinyol,putouts, owls, sparrows and lutes. Also gulls, cormorants,

egrets,coots and ducks diverse, even flamingos take place.Only the delta are over 350 different species of birds.The waters of the tributaries especially the heard prevail trout,eel crab native, among others, who live about 30 species ofreptiles and amphibians.

•TransvasamentThe transvasaments account for channeling water fromthe basin of a river basin to another.A transvasaments policy implies also the construction ofnew reservoirs, the function of which is to store only thewater for their pipeline. The transvasaments cause strongenvironmental impacts to the effect that barrier, andespecially to the mixing of waters that facilitates thepassage of the fauna of the donor.
