CENTERING MUSIC “Contemplation” Charlie Bisharat *CALL TO WORSHIP Sing praises to the Lord, for God has done gloriously; let us sing God’s praises throughout all the earth. Shout aloud and sing for joy, from the highest peaks, to the deepest caverns. Shout aloud and sing for joy, from the tiniest creatures, to the greatest herds. Shout aloud and sing for joy, in the midst of our joys and our sorrows. Shout aloud and sing for joy, as we come to worship the God of all creation! *HYMN OF PRAISE (UMH 694) “Come, Ye Thankful People, Come”

sT. GEORGE’S WINDSOR PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION Almighty God, as the Scripture is read and your Word proclaimed, reveal to us the way of salvation by the power of your Holy Spirit, that we may not grow weary in doing what is right. Amen. FIRST TESTAMENT LESSON 1 Kings 17:8-16

*GOSPEL LESSON Mark 12:41-44 This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. MESSAGE “Take the Plunge!” Rev. Mary Browne PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. INVITATION TO THE OFFERING God’s wisdom turns the wisdom of the world upside down. God calls us to unexpected and extravagant opportunities to grow in our gifts and in our faith. Holding things close in fear distracts us from the path of discipleship, but trusting in God and in God’s future leads us to great generosity and joy. With glad and generous hearts, let us bring our tithes, offerings, and commitments to God. STEWARDSHIP MOMENT AND PRAYER OF COMMITMENT Mr. Bill Clark

Stewardship Chair OFFERTORY “God, We See What You Have Given” NETTLETON

Please join in singing hymn

God, we see what you have given; Signs of grace are everywhere!

All around are gifts from heaven — Gifts enough for all to share.

We are stewards of your bounty, Called to give as we've received;

And your blessings have been plenty From the day we first believed.

We are stewards of the richness

That you send from heav'n above. For in Christ, you gave up greatness,

Humbly showing us your love. In a manger — gift from heaven! On a cross — with love and pain! You proclaimed we are forgiven; Now you send us in your name.

Page 4: Ebenezer United Methodist Church...Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those

4

We are stewards of your welcome

That you showed through Christ the Son. In his living and his teaching,

Jesus welcomed everyone. To the outcast and the stranger,

He showed hospitality! By your Spirit, may we also

Give the welcome we've received.

We are stewards, sent out sharing, Offering you our very best.

Through our serving and our caring May we give as we've been blessed.

God of love, may faithful living Be much more than Sunday talk. Send us loving, serving, giving; Help us daily walk your walk!

After you have placed your offering in the plate and the ushers have moved past your

pew, you are invited to come forward and place your Commitment Card in the box.

You are welcome to kneel or stand at the altar rail for a moment of prayer before returning to your seat.

*PRESENTATION OF GIFTS “God, Your Blessings Overflow” DIX

God, your blessings overflow! What can we begin to say? How can we begin to show, All our gratitude this day?

God, we join to worship you, Giving thanks for all you do. OFFERING PRAYER God of visions and dreams, as we seek to make a difference in our world, teach us anew that your love makes all things possible. Work within our offerings made this day, that they may be signs of our commitment to dream your Dreams and to bring your Vision for our world to life. Loving God, before we give to you, you have given to us. All we offer we have received from you. We thank you for your goodness, and we praise you for your bountiful works, through Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. *SONG OF SERVICE (UMH 368) “My Hope is Built” THE SOLID ROCK

*DISMISSAL WITH BLESSING People of God, as you leave this place, do not grow weary in doing what is right. We will bring hope and love to all we meet, and proclaim justice and peace wherever we go. Sisters and brothers in Christ, as you go forth, share God’s vision of the peaceable kingdom. We will share God’s vision of peace and work for to bring God’s kingdom near.

May the love of God the Father, the grace of God the Son, and the fellowship of God the Spirit be with you today and always. Amen. *GOING FORTH “Postlude in G Major” A. Menlemeester

Advent Study

Almost Christmas:

A Wesleyan Advent Experience

In John Wesley’s famous sermon, “The Almost Christian,” he encouraged people to follow Christ wholeheartedly. In Almost Christmas: A Wesleyan Advent Experience, four authors, Magrey deVega, Ingrid McIntyre, April Casperson, and Matt Rawle explore how we can make the same commitment to Christ during Advent and connect our Wesleyan heritage with the

traditional Advent themes of Love, Hope, Joy, and Peace. This is a four-week study. There will be 3 opportunities to participate in a study group: Tuesday mornings, Thursday evenings, and Sunday. You can sign up on a clipboard available in the Narthex or by contacting the church office by phone or e-mail. We are asking for a $10.00 donation toward the cost of the book (you may also purchase an e-book at Cokesbury.com for $11.49). If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Mary Browne Tuesdays: November 26, December 3, 10 & 17 – 9:55 – 11:15 a.m. Thursdays: November 21, December 5, 12, 19 – 7:00 – 8:15 pm (a light supper of soup and bread will be available at 6:30) Sundays: December 1, 8, 15, 22 -during Sunday School Hour with Hilltoppers group

Giving Tuesday – December 3

Giving Tuesday started in 2012 as a grassroots movement to encourage, support, and celebrate donations of money, time and/or goods to charities and non-profit

organizations. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving was chosen as a balance to the furor of Black Friday and Cyber Monday which can often be viewed as being all about

consumerism and self-interest. In 2018, this global giving campaign resulted in 3.6 million gifts totaling $400,000,000.

If you were to consider participating in Giving Tuesday, you may have a favorite charitable organization or cause that you would want to support. One suggestion is to

support the work of United Methodist Global Ministries through UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). Go to umcmission.org/give and you can search the

hundreds of worthy projects by greatest need, a particular category of need, or geographic region. Remember, that 100% of your gift goes directly to the program or project you select; all administrative costs for UMCOR are funded through other giving

streams in our United Methodist connection.

Ebenezer Preschool is sponsoring a SaveAround campaign to raise funds for technology in the classroom. SaveAround is a coupon book that offers hundreds of unique discounts and offers. Redeem just 2 or 3 coupons and the book has paid for itself! We earn 50% profit on every book. Our goal is to sell 150 books. Reaching our goal will purchase iPad for each classroom, safety case for each iPad, a parent communication app, and other apps used for

classroom curriculum. Books are $25 each and can be ordered in the Preschool or the church office. All orders must be received by November 22.

Our goal is to help young people realize the dangers of alcohol and drugs so that they and their families never have to experience the pain, tragedy and loneliness that accompany addiction.

We are not a support group, but we end up supporting those in recovery, those who have a loved one in

recovery or those who have lost a loved one to the disease. Health and Wellness is hosting a lecture here at Ebenezer UMC on November 23rd in the CLC from 10:00am - 11:00am

Luncheon immediately following Our Speaker will be: Don Keister, Founding Member
