Eaton Square Sixth Form College
Launching September 2020
SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
Welcome to Eaton Square Sixth Form College (ES6) a new, independent college in the heart of central London. ES6 is the next step for the pupils of Eaton Square Mayfair and other learners who are looking for an educational experience tailored to them and focused on personal growth and development.
Our College will offer high-quality teaching and learning on two-year A level programmes to pupils in years 12 and 13. We will also provide much more than academic excellence through a truly bespoke provision of extra-curricular, co-curricular and personal development activities.
We will be market leaders in university preparation, offering world class support through unique collaboration with our partners in the Dukes Education family including Oxbridge Applications, A-list Education and Dukes Medical Applications.
ES6 will borrow from the academic rigour, monitoring systems and outstanding levels of pastoral care in place in other Dukes Education Colleges and in particular Cardiff Sixth Form College and Earlscliffe.
In addition to academic excellence and university support, ES6 will be, we believe, like no other independent sixth form college in London by offering dedicated curriculum time to the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), personal study and revision and a bespoke, individual personal development project. We call the latter SPEAC - a specific, personal, extra-curricular or academic activity designed to enrich the development of each individual.
A unique Central London sixth form college
What makes ES6 different?
John Wilson - Head
John read Biological Sciences at Oxford University and studied at Cambridge University. He also holds the NPQH from UCL and the Institute of Education. He has been a UCAS advisor since 2002 and is an expert in medical school admissions, having served as a lay member of Medicine admissions panels at University College London, Imperial College, and Queen Mary, University of London.
Prior to leading ESM, John was the Principal of an independent Sixth Form college in West London, where he helped build a strong record of academic achievement, university destinations and a growing student body.
“I never shy away from saying that success and achievement are important. Through setting goals, then developing and sticking to a plan to achieve them, students open the door to a fulfilling future full of opportunity.”
John has been a member of leadership teams in London Sixth form colleges since 2005 and since that time has personally advised hundreds of students from the UK and overseas with applications to leading universities in the UK and throughout the world, including advice on the all important interview process.
Students will be required to show progress in and commitment to a Specific, personal, extra-curricular or academic (SPEAC) pursuit. An activity unique to them in which they can excel and demonstrate progress and personal development

What makes ES6 different?
Our students will have fuller timetables than other independent sixth form colleges with timetabled sessions for lessons, EPQ, study, enrichment and personal development
Unlike local competitors, our students will wear business suits and treat their studies as they might treat their future employment
We will leverage world-class university application support from our partners at Oxbridge Applications, Dukes Medical Applications and Dukes US Applications offering their entry-level advice and programmes free-of-charge
We plan to offer A levels in the subjects listed here which will be grouped into blocks in order to prepare students for specific career and university options. Students will take three full A levels from:
ES6 Curriculum
Additional subjects
Outside of the standard curriculum, for students with skills or experience in the appropriate areas, we will offer Further Maths and any modern language in which our students are fluent. These will include Spanish, French, Italian, Russian and German.
Further subjects
As a small college but with a large pool of tutors to draw on, we expect to be able to offer other subjects depending on demand and availability. We will be happy to provide these on a one-to-one basis if required.
Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a qualification equivalent to half an A level usually studied by sixth form students over one year. The choice of study area is entirely free but should be related to the students’ course of study, future career or personal interest. All of our students will take the EPQ and will have a supervisor with whom they will meet each week. The EPQ develops students’ skills in research, presentation, public speaking, writing, communication and independent study making its value far greater than the half-an-A level it is worth.
