Evidenced-based medicine has already determined the value of Vitamin C. Now a complementary research study from the UK has determined that high dietary intake of Vitamin C reduces the risk of cataract.
This study from the Department of Twin Research, London UK concluded that higher dietary intake of vitamin C can reduce the risk of cataract progression, but Vitamin C supplementation had no effect.
The researchers determined that elderly people who ate fruit and vegetables high in Vitamin C were a third less likely to develop cataracts. Foods rich in Vitamin C include:
. Oranges
. Yellow bell peppers
. Guava
. Kale
. Broccoli
. Kiwi fruit
So forget about taking best quality vitamins and supplements for improving your eyesight, instead ‘focus’ on food and nutrition advice i.e. foods rich in Vitamin C.
