Purpose

This guide is meant to help you understand scheduling your event, and setting rules and prizes for contributors.

1st Event – Event

The “Event” tab is used to set up the details of the event and your leader board so contributors can see the requirements, prizes, and keep up to date on the event.

You need to choose your start and finish dates and times (pay attention to time zones to help contributors avoid confusion) and decide on your rules and prizes.

Setting Dates

Choose your dates. Keep in mind that higher click events will need a bit longer to complete. Some personal suggestions are:

• 50 click event – 3 to 5 days

• 100 click event – 5 to 7 days

• 250 click event – 7 to 9 days

And so on…be reasonable.

Setting Times

Your contributors will come from all over the world so time zones are very important to consider when setting up your event.Do not just post a time without stating a time zone (like EST, PST, etc.)Tip: Avoid using 12am as a start or an end time.Example start and finish: December 12, 2012 12:01am ESTDecember 20, 2012 11:59pm EST

Event Rules

Event Rules let the contributors know how many clicks they need to send and what kinds of traffic you will find acceptable (personal lists or solo ads are best).

Traffic sources like adf.ly, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are often not considered good. • High Clicks + Low Conversions =

garbage traffic

Winner’s Notice

These are the prizes you will offer to your contributors.

Ask yourself what the main purpose is for this event.

For most it’s about getting conversions – opt-ins to the event and for the gifts.

• Click prizes – drive traffic – not quality.

• Conversion prizes – encourage quality traffic not excessive clicks.

Click Prizes

There are two basic click prizes:

1) First to reach – Drives traffic very quickly so likely not very high quality.

2) Most clicks – Encourages contributors to send traffic to the end of the event so quality may be better.

Tip: Avoid First to reach prizes.

Conversion Prizes

There are two basic conversion prizes:

1) Best conversion rate –Encourages high quality but not high clicks so contributors may fall short of the clicks.

2) Most conversions – encourages high quality and continuous traffic beyond the required clicks.

Tip: “Most conversion” prizes work better.

Types of Prizes

You can have almost anything as a prize. The two most common prizes are:1) Cash2) Solo adsYour prizes should be valuable enough to make contributors want to drive traffic to your event but also be low cost enough to make the conversions you get worth the outlay.

Example Event Prizes A

50 click mini event – 3 days:

• $20 for first to reach 50 clicks

• $15 for best conversion rate (minimum 50 clicks and 20% conversion)

This combination encourages fast sending and mid-range quality. The event is short in duration.

Example Event Prizes B

100 click mini event – 5 days• $25 most clicks over 100• $25 most conversions

(minimum 100 clicks and 20% conversion)

This encourages contributors to keep sending until the end of the event. It also encourages them to aim for above average quality so they can control their costs for the traffic.

Example Event Prizes C

250 click mini event – 7 days• $35 for most conversions• 75 click solo ad from my list for

second most conversions(minimum 250 clicks and 20% conversion)This encourages continuous traffic (it’s 250 clicks, it will take time to send that traffic) till the end. Plus it encourages higher than average quality. Also, contributors are always wanting to increase their lists so solo ad prizes are great, low cost prizes to offer.

My Philosophy

I am no expert, but having done a few events and tried a few different prize structures I have seen what works best.The main point to remember is why you are building a list: to monetize it. That means you need numbers. More numbers means more conversions. Tip: set prizes and conditions to encourage maximum conversions. This works for you and for every other contributor as well.
