A New Choice in Service and Retail POS Systems utilizing cloud-driven solutions From humble beginnings in Coimbatore, India, Easy Design Systems' CEO Padmanabhan (Padhu) Srivinasan always had an affinity for exploring and using new technologies, and extending that same technology to the masses. Being an ardent restaurant diner, he wanted to bring in new technology to provide a solution that would change the restaurant experience for both customer and the owner. Implementing change, however, is a lot harder than one may think. The solution he developed, “Easy Master,” hoped to be a smart and economical cloud-based Point of Sale solution. Realizing that small and medium businesses would benefit the most from his solution, Padhu had to sell the idea to these mom-and-pop shops by showing them the advantages of bringing their system to the cloud. The problem: most of these stores were still using analog cash registers. “Easy Master may have been a bit ahead of the technological curve,” he admits, but there was another snag - “the cost was simply too high.” When the price-tag of similar PDA-based POS systems would run as high as $700 USD, it’s easy to see why these small businesses might be reluctant to make the switch. With help from Acer’s Bluesky Alliance, Padhu was able to acquire competitively priced Acer tablets to further develop his mobility-focused POS system. A New Choice in Service and Retail POS Systems

utilizing cloud-driven solutions

From humble beginnings in Coimbatore, India, Easy Design Systems' CEO Padmanabhan (Padhu) Srivinasan always had an affinity for exploring and using new technologies, and extending that same technology to the masses.

Just like that, the price of his POS system was cut to a fraction of the original cost, coming in at around $160 USD, with a pay-as-you-go online subscription system for small retailers to easily scale their business as their client base grows. Easy Master, when combined with the AOP (Acer Open Platform), also gave businesses an opportunity to save costs on physical storage as well.

When Padhu decided to bring his system to Acer’s cloud, integration didn’t take long. Implementing Acer’s ACP devkit, his system was ready to go within 3 months. The POS system not only brought flexibility to the restaurant, but also increased profitability and gave businesses a secure place to store their data.

“The key is security and privacy,” explained Padhu. “With the AOP, we are able to use the cloud to ensure the privacy of client data, rather than being stored somewhere in a shared datab ase.”

Success Story - Easy Design

The hoteliers and retailers were still of mixed opinions. In India, clients were hesitant to extend the POS system to customers and diners. Padhu noted that “we had to demo the POS solutions to make the stakeholder understand the need for this POS system.”

People were starting to come around, and his clients were becoming increasingly pleased as well, with some businesses seeing as much as a 3-5% increase in daily revenue from pilferage prevention alone dueto Acer’s cloud beingable to easily and reliably track sales.

Further, kitchens were able to become up to 30% more efficient from additional time savings by orders being sent directly to the cooks.

Padhu isn’t stopping here though, as he hopes to further increase his international presence. He has plans to bring his system to Taiwan, as well as to utilize his connections within the Bluesky Alliance to further introduce him into other potential markets.

" It’s a good program,” Padhu says of the Bluesky Alliance. “It paves the way to show how businesses can utilize the AOP."
