Clerks: (4) one per division

• Check athletes in to their event• Assign heats and lanes• Make sure the athletes stay in their rows (heats) and lanes• Escort the athletes to their starting lines, stay with them

until the your division starts to race• All Relays, 400, 200, 800, and 1600 events, need to be

checked in at the staging area then escorted by the clerk to the holding area by the starting line . With all athletes and the clerks for “control”, the starter will be able to give one event instructions. This will assist in the efficiency of the meet. After your division has started to race, return the staging area and begin checking in athletes for the next race.

• This effort prevents the starter from having to spend time on this preparation; which in turn leaves him starting races. This keeps the flow of the meet much more consistent.
