One current senior says. . .
“This field trip was a lot more meaningful than I thought it would be. In fact, the only reason I am applying to Gonzaga is because of this trip. I really recommend all AVID students to take advantage of this even if right now they're not considering any of these universities. I didn't before I went but now Gonzaga is in my top choices.”
Another senior says. . . The campus tour guides (students at the
colleges) were really informative and fun. They knew a lot about each college. Hotels - nice!
A highlight for me is looking at more than one state college. I had no idea about those colleges before field trip, and was surprised at how great some of these schools actually are.
Qualities the colleges have in common:
Good academic support offerings: help centers for subject areas, office hours, AVID-like programs
Popular, large-enrollment majors: Biology, Political Science, English, Business, Psychology, Education
All will award College Bound Scholarship assistance- this covers tuition and books
