The Gradual (all remain seated and read responsively) Psalm 118: 14-17, 22-24

14 The Lord is my strength and my song, * and he has become my salvation. 15 There is a sound of exultation and victory * in the tents of the righteous: 16 “The right hand of the Lord has triumphed! * the right hand of the Lord is exalted! the right hand of the Lord has triumphed!” 17 I shall not die, but live, * and declare the works of the Lord. 22 The same stone which the builders rejected * has become the chief cornerstone. 23 This is the Lord’s doing, * and it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 On this day the Lord has acted; * we will rejoice and be glad in it. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever: world without end. Amen.

Sermon Renewal of Baptismal Vows

Through the Paschal mystery, dear friends, we are buried with Christ by Baptism into his death, and raised with him to newness of life. I call upon you, therefore [now that our Lenten observance is ended], to renew the solemn promises and vows of Holy Baptism, by which we once renounced the Devil and all his works, and promised to serve God faithfully in his one holy catholic and apostolic Church. Celebrant: Do you, here in the presence of God and the Church, renew the solemn

promises and vows made at your Baptism and commit to keep them? People: I do. Celebrant: Do you renounce the Devil and all the spiritual forces of wickedness that

rebel against God? People: I renounce them. Celebrant: Do you renounce the empty promises and deadly deceits of this world

which corrupt and destroy the creatures of God? People: I renounce them. Celebrant: Do you renounce the sinful desires of the flesh that draw you from the

love of God? People: I renounce them. Celebrant: Do you turn to Jesus Christ and confess him as your Lord and Savior? People: I do. Celebrant: Do you joyfully receive the Christian Faith, as revealed in the Holy

Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments? People: I do. Celebrant: Will you obediently keep God’s holy will and commandments, and

walk in them all the days of your life? People: I will, the Lord being my helper.

The Celebrant continues

Let us now reaffirm our faith in the words of the ancient baptismal confession, the Apostles’ Creed. Celebrant: Do you believe and trust in God the Father? People: I do.

I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

Celebrant: Do you believe and trust in Jesus Christ? People: I do.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried: He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Celebrant: Do you believe and trust in the Holy Spirit? People: I do.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Let us pray.

Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the head cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their doctrine, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen. Prayers of the People (please kneel)

The Deacon says:

Please offer your prayers and thanksgivings this morning, either out loud or silently, and after the words “Lord, in your mercy” respond with “Hear our prayer”. Let us pray.

The Deacon concludes with the following prayer:

Heavenly Father, grant these our prayers for Jesus Christ’s sake, our only Mediator and Advocate, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Confession (in unison)

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Absolution

The Celebrant says:

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who in his great mercy has promised forgiveness of sins to all those who sincerely repent and with true faith turn to him, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Peace Celebrant: The Peace of the Lord be always with you. People: And with your spirit.

Presentation Hymn (all stand) Lasst uns erfreuen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Alleluia, Alleluia! Praise him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Celebrant: All things come from you, O Lord. People: And of your own have we given you. Sursum Corda

Celebrant: The Lord be with you. People: And with your spirit. Celebrant: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them up to the Lord. Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

It is right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

Page 6: Easter Sunday The Holy Eucharist THE LITURGY OF …...Sequence Celtic Alleluia CCLI: 1564180 Sermon Renewal of Baptismal Vows Through the Paschal mystery, dear friends, we are buried

But chiefly are we bound to praise you for the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; for he is the true Paschal Lamb, which was offered for us, and has taken away the sin of the world; who by his death has destroyed death, and by his rising to life again has restored us to everlasting life.

Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name. Sanctus et Benedictus Words: Traditional Music: Justin Philip Brooks, Tiffany Brooks

The Prayer of Consecration

Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself; and when we had sinned against you and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent your only Son into the world for our salvation. By the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary he became flesh and dwelt among us. In obedience to your will, he stretched out his arms upon the cross and offered himself once for all, that by his suffering and death we might be saved. By his resurrection he broke the bonds of death, trampling Hell and Satan

Page 7: Easter Sunday The Holy Eucharist THE LITURGY OF …...Sequence Celtic Alleluia CCLI: 1564180 Sermon Renewal of Baptismal Vows Through the Paschal mystery, dear friends, we are buried

under his feet. As our great high priest, he ascended to your right hand in glory, that we might come with confidence before the throne of grace.

On the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it,* and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for you: Do this in remembrance of me.”

Likewise, after supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for this is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many, for the forgiveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me.”

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, and we offer you these gifts.

Sanctify them by your Word and Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus Christ. Sanctify us also, that we may worthily receive this holy sacrament, and be made one body with him, so that he may dwell in us and we in him. And bring us with all your saints into the fullness of your heavenly kingdom, where we shall see our Lord face to face.

All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ: By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and forever. Amen. The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The Fraction Celebrant: Alleluia. Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. People: Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia.

Page 8: Easter Sunday The Holy Eucharist THE LITURGY OF …...Sequence Celtic Alleluia CCLI: 1564180 Sermon Renewal of Baptismal Vows Through the Paschal mystery, dear friends, we are buried

Prayer of Humble Access We do not presume to come to this your table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your abundant and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord, who always delights in showing mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

Communion

All baptized Christians who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are welcome to receive Holy Communion in this church. All who do not wish to receive are still welcome to come forward to the altar rail. You may cross your arms across your chest as an indication you do not wish to receive, and a prayer of blessing will be offered for you instead.

Gluten-free wafers are available. If you would like to receive a gluten-free wafer, simply ask the priest when he comes to you at the communion rail.

Additional prayer is offered by our Altarside Prayer Team on either side of the altar, if you are in need of specific prayer, they would be happy to pray with you after you have received communion.

Where would I run But to the throne of mercy

Where would I kneel But at this cross of grace

How great the love How strong the hand that holds us

Beautiful so beautiful

So here I bow to lift You high Jesus be glorified

In all things for all my life I am Yours forever Yours

There is a King Who bore the scars of healing

There is a Son who came in grace and truth How great the love

That carries us to kindness Wonderful You’re wonderful

God here and now be lifted high Right here and now be glorified

God of Heaven and Earth God who brought me back to life

I am Yours forever Yours Psalm 62 Stuart Townend, Aaron Keyes CCLI: 5040902

My soul finds rest in God alone My rock and my salvation A fortress strong against my foes And I will not be shaken

Though lips may bless and hearts may curse And lies like arrows pierce me I'll fix my heart on righteousness I'll look to Him who hears me

O praise Him hallelujah My Delight and my Reward Everlasting never failing My Redeemer my God

Find rest my soul in God alone Amid the world's temptations When evil seeks to take a hold I'll cling to my salvation

Though riches come and riches go Don't set your heart upon them The fields of hope in which I sow Are harvested in heaven

I'll set my gaze on God alone And trust in Him completely With ev'ry day pour out my soul And He will prove His mercy Though life is but a fleeting breath A sigh too deep to measure My King has crushed the curse of death And I am His forever

All I Have Is Christ Jordan Kauflin; CCLI: 5174122

I once was lost in darkest night Yet thought I knew the way

The sin that promised joy and life Had led me to the grave

I had no hope that You would own A rebel to Your will

And if You had not loved me first I would refuse You still

But as I ran my hell-bound race

Indifferent to the cost You looked upon my helpless state

And led me to the cross And I beheld God’s love displayed

You suffered in my place You bore the wrath reserved for me

Now all I know is grace

Hallelujah! All I have is Christ Hallelujah! Jesus is my life

Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone

And live so all might see The strength to follow Your commands

Could never come from me Oh Father, use my ransomed life

In any way You choose And let my song forever be

My only boast is You Post Communion Prayer (in unison)

Heavenly Father, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the most precious body and blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ: and for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living members of the body of your Son, and heirs of your eternal Kingdom. And now Father, send out into the world to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and forever. Amen. Prayer for our Search Team (in unison)

Good and gracious God, thank you for blessing our church. As we prepare for our future, we are confident of your goodness and care, and we humbly ask you to open our hearts and minds so that we may listen well for your guidance. Help us to discern Your will, and to be guided to select the person you already have in mind to be our new Rector. May we love each other and You more deeply as we make this journey together. This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Blessing

The God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, the great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you always. Amen. Recessional Hymn Jesus shall reign where’er the sun Hymnal 544 Dismissal
