Happy Easter dear Parishioners of St. Lucy!
This will be my sixth and final Easter as pastor of St. Lucy Parish. As you know, the bish-op has accepted my request for early retirement due to health reasons. My farewell week-end will be June 20-21 after which I will begin serving as chaplain of Presentation Retreat Center in Los Gatos. St. Lu-cy’s new pastor will be Fr. Mark Arnzen who has served as pastor of St. Catherine Parish in Morgan Hill for the past six years. Prior to entering the seminary Fr. Mark served in the armed forces and as a high school teacher. He will be a fine shepherd for St. Lucy Parish.
The longer we live we realize that life is a series of endings and new beginnings. If we keep rooted in our relationship with Jesus Christ throughout all our transitions, then each change becomes an opportunity to participate more fully in the dying and rising of Jesus (the “Paschal Mystery”). Even the tough times and crises can be occasions to experience “amazing grace.” A guiding principle of our lives should be Romans 8:28: “All things work for good for those who love God.”
With deepest gratitude for inspiring me these past six years and for helping to make St. Lucy Parish a place where the Good News of Jesus Christ is encountered and lived,

ST. LUCY ALTAR SOCIETY The St. Lucy Altar Society will hold its April meeting on Thursday, April 9th at 1:00 PM in the PAC. The Nominating Committee will present its report and we will hold an election for new Officers for the 2015-2016 term which begins in June. Yesterday at our Easter Vigil, St. Lucy welcomed 18 new members to God’s family- The Catholic Church! The sacrament of Baptism marks the beginning of the Christian life. It makes us an adopted Son or Daughter of God the Father. It makes us brother to Jesus the Christ. And it makes us Coworkers of the Holy Spir-it. This sacrament washes away original sin and leaves an indelible (un-erasable) imprint on the soul of the recipient.
St Lucy also celebrated another 32 people receiving full initiation into the Catholic faith through the reception of Holy Communion- Jesus Body & Blood, Soul and Divinity, in the bread & wine at Mass. They also re-ceived the Sacrament of Confirmation, which allows the Holy Spirit, who was given to us at our Baptism, to lead us using our God given gifts, to build God’s kingdom!
We welcome any children and adults who would like to complete their sacraments of Initiation to contact the parish office.

¡Feliz Pascua queridos feligreses de Santa Lucia!
Este será mi sexto y último Pascua como pastor de Santa Lucia. Como ustedes saben, el obispo ha aceptado mi solicitud de jubilación anticipada por motivos de salud. Mi fin de semana de despedida será el 20 de junio cuando voy a empezar a servir como capellán del Presentación Retreat Center en Los Gatos. El nuevo párroco de Santa Lucía será el Padre Marks Arnzen que ha servido como pastor de la Parroquia de St. Catherine en Morgan Hill durante los últimos seis años. Antes de entrar en el seminario el Padre Mark sirvió en las fuerzas armadas y como pro-fesor de secundaria. Él será un pastor excelente para la Parroquia de Santa Lucia.
Cuanto más vivimos nos damos cuenta de que la vida es una serie de fines y nuevos comienzos. Si seguimos arraiga-dos en nuestra relación con Jesucristo a través de todas nuestras transiciones, cada cambio se convierte en una oportu-nidad de participar más plenamente en la muerte y resurrección de Jesús (el "misterio pascual"). Incluso los tiempos difíciles y de crisis pueden ser oportunidades de experimentar la “gracia asombrosa”. Como guía para nuestras vidas debe ser Romanos 8:28: "Dispone todas las cosas para el bien de quienes lo aman."

Ayer en nuestra Vigilia Pascual, St. Lucy dió la bienvenida a 18 nuevos miembros en la familia de Dios: La Iglesia Católica! El sacramento del Bautismo marca el comienzo de la vida Cristiana. Nos hace Hijos ó Hijas adoptivos de Dios, el Padre. Nos hace her-manos de Jesús, el Cristo. Y nos hace compañeros en la misión en el Espíritu Santo. Este sacramento lava el pecado original y deja una mar-ca indelible en el alma del que lo recibe.
Santa Lucía también celebró que otras 32 personas que completa-ron su iniciación cristiana en la fe católica a través de recibir por pri-mera vez la Sagrada Comunión- Jesús Cuerpo y Sangre, Alma y Divini-dad, presente en el pan y el vino en la Misa. También recibieron el Sac-ramento de la Confirmación, que permite al Santo Espíritu, que reci-bieron en el Bautismo, que nos guíe, a través de darnos sus dones, a construir el reino de Dios!
Damos la bienvenida a todos los niños y adultos que quieran completar sus sacramentos de Iniciación a ponerse en contacto con la oficina de la parroquia.
