REST IN PEACE Doris Moore
May the faithful departed rest in peace.
Apr i l 21, 20 19 · Ea ster Sunday o f the R esurre ct ion o f th e Lord
This weekend we welcomed two
new members to are faith
community. Judith Deptula and
Aydin Behnami participated, along
with their sponsors, in this year’s
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
(RCIA). Both of them were previously baptized in
different Christian traditions. At this weekend’s
vigil Mass they each made a Profession of Faith,
were confirmed and received the Eucharist for the
first time. It was a pleasure to be one of the people
who met with these two good people over the past
seven months. I look forward to their presence in
our worshipping community for years to come.
I was recently contacted by Fr. Chris LeBlanc,
the Catholic chaplain at St. Francis Hospital in
Evanston, regarding their need for Ministers of
Communion to distribute the Eucharist to hospital
patients. The two days that they are most in need
of help are Fridays and Sundays. If you would like
more information, Father can be contacted

A celebration of motherhood MASS FOR MOMS
WEDNESDAY MAY 8TH 7:00 P.M. St. Francis Xavier Church 9th and Linden, Wilmette
Moms, grandmothers, aunts, teachers, nurses, friends--all who
nurture our children in the world--gather for worship, camara-
derie and inspiration. Bring open hearts to pray for each other,
our mothers, mothers who have died and those soon to be
mothers.
Barbara Mahany, mother, former nurse, journalist, story gath-
erer, author and blogger will offer a reflection on the blessings
of being who we are. Barbara’s recent book Motherprayer:
Lessons in Loving explores the sacred mysteries of mothering.
She has been called “balm for the hurried heart.” Imagine a
church filled with women praying, singing and listen-
ing….sharing. offering and acknowledging our maternal gifts as
we celebrate the Eucharist.

A Retreat for Mothers and Daughters:
Growing Together in Wisdom and Grace
“And Jesus advanced in wisdom, and age, and grace with
God and men” (Luke 2:52). So too are we called to grow
emotionally and spiritually in our relationship with God and
one another. This happens through the deepening of these
relationships, and how we experience and relate to the
significant women in our life is key.
Join Mary McKeon and Catherine Palenik for a
women’s overnight retreat for mothers and daughters,
grandmothers and granddaughters, nieces and aunts,
sisters, cousins, friends.

WE REMEMBER THEM
In the rising of the sun and its going down, we remember them
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, we remember them.
In the opening of the buds and in the warmth of the summer, we remember them
In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, we remember them.
In the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them
When we are weary and in need of strength, we remember them.
We are lost and sick at heart, we remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share, we remember them.
So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are now a part of us as we remember them.
