EASTER SYMBOLS

Easter eggs & baby chicks- Eggs and chicks symbolize new life. Eggs have been a symbol of spring since ancient times. An egg also is a symbol of the rock tomb out of which Christ emerged when he arose again. The chick, hatching out of the egg, symbolizes new life or re-birth.

The lamb - Represents Jesus, "the Lamb of God".

ŚMIGUS- DYNGUSWET MONDAY

Easter Monday in Poland is a holiday and is called

Śmigus-Dyngus or Lany Poniedzialek (Wet Monday). This is a wonderful day of fun. It was traditionally the

day when boys tried to drench girls buckets of water. The more a girl is sprayed with water, the

higher her chances are that she will get married. The girls get their chance for

revenge the next day. Now Wet Monday is usually celebrated by everyone sprinkling each other.
