HE HAS RISEN! What a joyous occasion it was, celebrating theresurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with our Ascensioncommunity and friends, in the parking lot and online. We are gratefulto so many who poured their time, talents and energy into this day, starting with our amazing Pastors Tim, Steve, Julie and Paul – we areso blessed. Also thanks go to: Wyant Morton and our choir members

and musicians, and Sam Morton for assembling awesome multi-voice hymn tracks; our indomitable tech team led by Lan Merrill, who

proved that he could indeed be in several places at once; ChristiLabrenz and the Carillons, and Christi for the wonderful mural that

was such a great part of this year’s Easter; Mark Labrenz, AddieBehm, Jenni Klemp and everyone else who added their artistry to the

mural, the flowers, the rock paintings; Kaylee Searway, Jeff Hengstand Cam Lorentson, on the front lines of all the physical

arrangements; and all members and guests for your welcomingwords and sharing of Easter love. He has risen indeed.

20% of your online order today will bedonated to Lutheran Disaster Response

Ascension

Why Fair Trade? Every purchase supports something. The things we buy – things to use, wear, eat or drink - are connected to the lives of others. With Fair Trade, our purchases

support fairness for farmers, artisans and our planet. We’ve learned how Fair Trade can change the lives of many through safe workplaces, fair prices and wages, and opportunities for education and training. We’ve learned how Fair Trade can help heal and protect our environment. Actions that might seem small can bring about big change. As Ascension is challenging all of us during this year of “Transformation ’21,” our Ascension Community’s support for our Fair Trade Ministry is transformational for us and for the people around the world whose fairly traded products we purchase.

With our friends from SERRV, the transformation goes even further. For purchases of Fair Trade artisan handcrafts using the special ordering link on Ascension’s Fair Trade web page, SERRV will give 20% to our ministry partners at ELCA Lutheran Disaster Response to help many domestically and globally.

Fair Trade coffee, tea, snacks, olive oil and chocolate can be ordered from Ascension’s Fair Trade Ministry April 5-12, 2021. The April 2021 Order Form can be accessed from Ascension’s Calendar and from the Fair Trade page on Ascension’s website. https://alcto.org/fair-trade-products/

The Order Form is also available in the Church Office. All orders must be received by Monday, April 12, at Noon.

Prayers of comfort for:Carol Bartell and the rest of the Bartell family on the death of Ted Bartell

Dr. Ted Bartell passed away peacefully the morning of April 1. Ted was a long-time member of Ascension’s Global Ministries Team, Matthew 25:35 ministry, and was a faithful servant to his church and our global neighbors near and far. Ted was a compassionate friend to many and befriended the Aqa family when they first arrived, helping with ESL, job leads and providing trusted friendship. He was a key supporter of our Jubilee work and a Foundation trustee. He was a wonderful husband to Carol and loving father and grandfather who will be very missed. His life’s work as an education researcher is a fascinating story and it led Ted and Carol to live in many places. Please keep the Bartell family in your prayers. A memorial service at Ascension is being planned for May 29th.
