Skills Pledge
• EMAS will support all its employees to develop their ‘functional’ skills– Numeracy – Literacy, – Relevant, valuable qualifications to at least Level 2, – includes levels 3, 4 and management and leadership.
• Ensure that all staff are skilled, competent and able to make a full contribution to the success of the organisation.
• Paul Philips signed the Skills Pledge in April 2008.
Main targets for ‘skills development’ are:
• 95% of EMAS workforce to have basic skills in functional literacy and numeracy
• 90% of EMAS workforce to have gained a level 2 qualification
• Shift the balance of intermediate skills from level 2 to level 3
• Increase the number of Apprenticeships offered by EMAS
• Work towards 40% of the EMAS Workforce to have achieved a higher education qualification at level 4 and above.
• Expansion of the number of apprentices available across the Trust in both the operational and support functions of the service.
• Roll out the apprentice scheme across the organisation
• Where possible to recruit all new staff as apprentices.
