Should I Register for an Honors Level Course?

Talk to your teachers!

Success in an honors level class may take:

� solid reading and writing skills

� SRI 1200+, Advanced State Testing Scores, High Grades in Academics

� having good study habits & completing work on time

� Homework, reading, projects required outside of class!

� being self-motivated & willing to get extra help if needed

� participation in class activities and discussions

� passion for the subject

A caution about selecting an

“Honors section”

� Changes to a different

level will only be made

in extreme situations

and only if class size

allows.

� Success is about a

manageable overall

load.

Choosing Electives

� Sophomores can take up to 2.5 full credits of electives!

� What is an elective class?

� Choice!

� It may or may not meet specific graduation requirements

� All elective choices for 10th grade students are on the course request card

� Look in the Curriculum Guide to make sure you have completed the recommended courses when signing up for classes (for example, you can’t take French 2 unless you have taken French 1).

� Please provide your daytime phone number and e-mail address.

� Make sure credit total is between 6 – 7. Print course numbers and names carefully on back of Course Request Card.

� List 3 alternate courses
