Oiling: - Using the tapping oil, you should now gently oil the whetstone. The purpose of tapping oil is to clean off the metal. It will make the metal lubricated and ensure its easy sharpening.

Remove Blade Nicks: - There might be blade nicks, which need removal. To remove those, only apply the coarse side of the whetstone. While applying, always perform it in a pushing way as pulling may cause a blade edge inflection.

After when you have removed the blade nicks, gently move the blade across the whetstone by applying force. Care should be taken that the table on which it is placed does not move as imbalance may harm you as well. If there is curved edge on the blade, it will require reshaping again.

Maintenance of blade: - As blades are prone to wear and tear, they require maintenance on regular basis. You need to check frequently that the blades of your wooden equipment are in good condition and are able to produce good yield. If due to any case, you feel they are not sharp as they should be, you must immediately perform the above mentioned procedure to increase the lifespan of the equipment.
