Earth’s Spheres
![Page 2: Earth’s spheres](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012316/555419fbb4c90572068b47ee/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
Introduction
• There are three main “spheres” on earth – Atmosphere– Hydrosphere– Lithosphere
![Page 3: Earth’s spheres](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012316/555419fbb4c90572068b47ee/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Atmosphere
• __________- is a thin envolope around the earth kept in place by gravity and is made of gas, liquids, and solids
• It reaches from the earth’s surface up until space
• It is the less dense out of the three main spheres
![Page 4: Earth’s spheres](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012316/555419fbb4c90572068b47ee/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Atmosphere
• The atmosphere is stratified into zones each with it’s own characteristics – Troposphere– Stratosphere– Mesosphere– Thermosphere
![Page 5: Earth’s spheres](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012316/555419fbb4c90572068b47ee/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Atmosphere
troposphere Startosphere Mesophere Thermosphere

Troposphere
• ____________- is the lowest region of the atmosphere the temprature decreases as the altitude increases
![Page 7: Earth’s spheres](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012316/555419fbb4c90572068b47ee/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Stratopshere
• Part of the atmosphere that is right above the troposphere
• As the altitude goes up so does the temperature – This is due to the
ozone
![Page 8: Earth’s spheres](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012316/555419fbb4c90572068b47ee/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Mesosphere
• Is above the stratosphere
• As the altitude goes the temperature decreases
![Page 9: Earth’s spheres](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012316/555419fbb4c90572068b47ee/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Thermosphere
• Outermost part of the atmosphere
• At the altitude goes up so does the temperature
![Page 10: Earth’s spheres](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012316/555419fbb4c90572068b47ee/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Hydrosphere
• Is the second sphere of the earth – It covers ¾ of the
earth’s surface – This includes all
bodies of water – HYDRO – water
![Page 11: Earth’s spheres](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022012316/555419fbb4c90572068b47ee/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Lithosphere
• Most solid part of the earth is the rock near the earth’s surface and is continues solid shell
• It is even under the hydrosphere
• It accounts for mountains faults etc.. Even under the ocean
