Verify connection of ground cable to equipments. 3. Verify that the cubicle, cable trays, floor and wall mounted equipment are sufficiently isolated from other non Earthed equipment. 3.2 Test Prerequisites The incoming ground wire has been terminated to its ground point/bus bar(s). The other end has been terminated to the ground electrode/rod and no outstanding Quality Control discrepancy items exist which may affect the results of this test. 3.3 Test Equipments 1. • 3. EARTHING TEST

    3.1 Test Objectives

The objectives of this test are as follows:

    1. To measure the resistance between the equipments ground electrode/rod and the earth.

    2. Verify connection of ground cable to equipments.

    3. Verify that the cubicle, cable trays, floor and wall mounted equipment are sufficiently isolated from other non Earthed equipment.

    3.2 Test Prerequisites

The incoming ground wire has been terminated to its ground point/bus bar(s). The other end has been terminated to the ground electrode/rod and no outstanding Quality Control discrepancy items exist which may affect the results of this test.

    3.3 Test Equipments

    1. Fluke Multi-meter or equivalent. 2. Megger Direct Reading Earth Tester and its accessories (test leads and reference

    ground stakes).

    3.4 Measurement Techniques

Ensure that the meter leads are connected to an area that is free of paint, corrosion and any other substances that may prevent a suitable electrical connection. If jumper wires are used to extend the meter lead(s), it may be necessary to compensate the meter reading for the added resistance of the jumper wire.

3.5 Wayside and Equipment Building Test

Perform test for all applicable Wayside equipment. Record the results on the appropriate test certificate.

    3.6 Data Evaluation Procedure

Data evaluation will consist comparing the data against the requirements of the equipment / location under test to confirm that no omissions have been made.

    3.7 Pass / Fail Criteria

    1. Pass Criteria

  • All data recorded conforms to the tolerances specified within this test. Equipment shall be earthed with a maximum resistance value as indicated below,

Equipment Building 3 Ohm Station Control Room 3 Ohm Wayside case 3 Ohm Signal Post 10 Ohm

    2. Fail Criteria

If any part of the pass criteria is not met, the problem will be analyzed and a solution found. All ground systems tested under these criteria must reflect the final configuration.

    3.8 Staffing and Time Allocation

The person responsible for this task is he will have at least one assistant to carry out this task and the estimated time allocation for this task is one (1) working day per station.
