DESCRIPTION

In his inspirational new memoir, Breaking New Ground, Lester Brown traces life from a small farm to leadership as a global environmental analyst. Here is a selection of photos from his time at the Earth Policy Institute, a major nonprofit environmental research organization he founded in 2001.

In an unusual role, Lester hosted one part of a three-part television program, Voyage to the Future, for NHK, Japan, where a select group of international students traveled to various countries in the region and learned about the environment. This one-hour segment was filmed in December 2002.
