EarnestThe Importance of Being
Director’s NotesI have a renewed respect for my son’s generation in working with the wonderful students here at Bel-haven. I cannot express enough the respect I have for their sense of integrity, their honesty, and their talent. I have learned far more from them than they have from me. Never let it be said that there are not huge advantages to coming to Belhaven. I have first hand evidence that it’s just a wonderful thing to do. I sincerely love this cast. How could you not?
About this production of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST: it is a script Chairperson, Joe Frost, and I decided on after he had asked me to be a guest director. It’s about young love. Where better than a college campus to explore that? Anyway, I sincerely hope you enjoy this production half as much as I enjoyed directing it. And I will not soon forget my experience here.

Last, but not least, she is thankful to God for His undying love for her, continuing to lead her and open new and exciting doors.
Stephanie Bishop (Gwendolen)Stephanie is a sophomore theatre performance major at Belhaven University. She transferred from a community college in Bellingham, Washington, also her home town. Since coming to Belhaven, in August, she’s had the privilege of acting in three plays, which include A Doll’s House directed by Dr. Lou Campbell, and The Chocolate Affair directed by the fabulous Erin Brownfield. Many thanks to everyone in the Belhaven Theatre Department and her lovely family back home! --Psalm 27

Jonathan Dixon (Merriman)Jonathan is a senior theatre ministries major from Brandon, Mississippi. He recently directed Some-one from Assissi in Belhaven’s Night of One Acts, and performed as Krogstad in A Doll’s House. He intends to use theatre in his ministry and everyday life.

She has most recently been seen on the Belhaven stage as Donna in the original one-act, Godliness, by Belhaven grad, Brandon Whitlock. She has – and Lady Bracknell would approve – not been care-less enough to lose either of her parents, whom she adores. Unlike Lady Bracknell, however, she has a particular fondness for French songs.
