early years professional status (eYPs)Fromseptember2008,theearlyYearsFoundationstage(eYFs)becomesstatutory.soitisvitalthatleadersareinplacetoenablechange.theGovernmenthasintroducedtwonewtargetstobereachedby2015toensurethebenefitsofthisframeworkreachallearlyyearschildren.theseare:

tohaveaneYPs(whoisorworkingtowardsbecomingagraduate)toleadpracticeinallfulldaycaresettingsandplayservices.Fundswillprioritisegroupsintheprivate,independentandvoluntarydaycaresectorallstafftobequalifiedtoLevel3.

smarttrainingspecialisesinnationalVocationalQualifications(nVQs)andapprenticeshipsinChildren’sCareandManagement.Coursesarerunatcentresacrossthecountryandarepart-time.

smarttraininghas15years’experienceofdeliveringchildcareandmanagementtrainingintheworkplaceandourlearnersachieveoutstandingresults.Lastyear,thepassrateacrossallofourcourseswas71%-20%higherthanthenationalaverageforalltrainingproviders.

thetrainingcoursesarefreeforlearnersofanyage,aspartoftheGovernment’sApprenticeshipscheme.

nVQLevel2inChildren’sCareLearningandDevelopmentisidealforthosestartingchildcarework.thisnVQqualifiesanindividualtoworkasanurserynurse,childminderorteachingassistant.Mostlearnerscompleteitwithin15months.
