• 49 %are girls
• 14% population live in cities
• 40% belong to extremely poor families
• 47% are malnourished
• 90% are immunized
• 80% are admitted to school, but only 51% complete primary level
• 86% boys and 74% girls are enrolled in primary level
• 41% of total population is children below 16 years.
• There is only one national level children's hospital
• There is one child specialist to 1 hundred thousand children

What is an ELDS?
A national standard of measuring the
physical, Cognitive, cultural,
linguistic, social and emotional status
of children aged 48-60 months
What is it essential for?
To maximize effort and support to ensure minimum development standards of young children
To build the capacity and help relevant stakeholders about ELDS
To bring uniformity in ECD programs at all levels To keep records of all sectoral development
(domains, sub-domains, specific aspects) of children
To contemporize the ECD curriculum To systematize the monitoring and evaluation
system of ECD programs
