PURPOSE
The purpose of Unit 5s EarlyLearning Program is to provide astimulating and nurturingenvironment for young children.Students are given the chance to
become successful and build self-confidence. This program is designedto increase student opportunities,help prepare for future achievements,and meet individual needs and goalsin eight domains of learning.
Language Arts
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies
Physical Development and Health
Fine Arts
Foreign/Primary Language
Social/Emotional
These domains of learning are part ofthe Illinois Early Learning StateStandards.
Who is eligible?
Children must:
Be between the ages of three andfive years of age.
Live within McLean County UnitDistrict No. 5.
Children with developmental delays,which affect normal growth anddevelopment or who are at risk ofacademic failure may be eligible forservices and supports. Eligibility will bebased on the presence of noted delaysin one or more of the developmentalareas listed below. Eligibility isdetermined by the Individualized
Educational Program (IEP) team. Callour office for a developmentalscreening.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
Unit 5 Early Learning Program offers awide variety of family involvementopportunities throughout the year.
Home Contacts: Classroom
teachers and parent coordinatorsmay make home contacts to helpsupport parents and students,provide information and offer homeeducational opportunities.
Fun NFamily activities: Numerousfamily activities are offered throughoutthe year that promote and allow forquality family time. These activitiesinclude open houses, family fun nights,parent educational workshops,community involvement activities etc.
Field Trips may be taken throughoutthe school year and parents arewelcome to attend and help supervisechildren.
Parenting workshops and classesare offered throughout the year.
