THE WORKING JOURNALISTS & OTHER NEWSPAPER EMPLOYEES (CONDITIONS OF SERVICE) AND MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS ACT, 1955
Act to regulate certain conditions of service of working journalists
Act is for people employed in newspaper establishments
SPECIAL PROVISIONS IN RESPECT OF CERTAIN CASES OF RETRENCHMENT
1. Wages for 1 month2. Compensation which shall be equivalent to
15 days
PAYMENT OF GRATUITY
1. Not less than 3 years in the newspaper establishment
HOURS OF WORK
1. Not more than 144 hours for 4 consecutive weeks
2. Should be allowed one leave in 7 days
COMPENSATION FOR OVER TIME WORK
1. For more than six hours on any day in the case of day shift
2. More than five and half hours in case of night shift
LEAVES1. Earn leave2. Maternity leave3. Quarantine leave4. Extraordinary leave5. Casual leave
