• Use the application as an opportunity to sell yourself – include all relevant information on your CV,

including extra curricular activities and any volunteering work you have completed.

• You are able to attach a covering letter which expresses your interest and experience if you wish to add

additional information which isn’t on your CV.

• We’re looking for interest and enthusiasm for design, engineering, science, software or technology.

Assessment Day – what to expect

There are three parts to the Assesment Centre:

• “Competency” interview

• “Technical” interview

• Group Exercise

The Competency interview is all about ‘getting to know you’. You’ll be asked about your interest and why you

would like to participate in the programme.

The Technical interview is about assessing your aptitude. We’re not trying to catch you out with difficult

questions – we’re looking for creativity and lateral thinking. For example, if you showed interest in

mechanical engineering, we might ask you something like this:

“How many ways can you think of to convert rotary motion in to linear motion?”
