Earlier Kolathiri Rajahs, Arakal Rajahs, Arakal Beebi , Portugual, Tippu

Sultan and East India Company ruled Northern group of Islands. These islands are

known as Amindivi Islands and Amini was the Headquarter Island of Kadmat, Kiltan,

Chetlat and Bitra.

Amini Island laying 72.30 East longitude and 11.24 North latitude and 407

Kms. away from Kochi. The total population is 7656 as per 2011 Census. The total

area is 2.59 Sq.Kms ( 259.4 Hector). The length is 3 Kilometers. Density per kilometer

is 2834. The length of concrete Road is 17.37 Kilometers. Anti Sea Erosion work is

2.87 Kilometer. The total coconut cropped area is 245.28 Hectors

Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries.

Sufficient funds may be provided for coconut harvesting Meera

Taping Scheme to remove the vital problem of the climbers. Only

fund allotted 2 lakhs for coconut harvesting. Amini Island is one of

the major Island in Lakshadweep. Therefore, fund allotted is not

sufficient

: Broiler production – Nearly 31915 Nos. broiler chicks already distributed for

farmers during this year.

Large scale Poultry: Two Farmers are rearing chicks under

large scale for which the Department providing financial assistance

of Rs. 50,000 per farmer and three more farmers can be brought

under this schemes for which we are ;inviting interested progressive

farmers for providing cash incentives.

details provided to the Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Amini

: Connecting Road to Animal Husbandry Unit Amini: The consent of

the parties and Land details already provided to the VAS, Amini.

: Providing tiles inside the incubator room.

: Farmers demanding for the distribution of mulching cows on

subsidized cost.

Department distributed 7 cows during 2010 to the Progressive

Farmers. The Panchyat opined that one Diary Unit with 10

milking cows started initially at Amini island.

The Administrator already ordered to hand over the Dakbunglow to SPORTS . But the

PWD not handed over till date.

: The construction of Tourist Cottages at Amini Island. For acquiring land -

land details and evaluation statement and coconut trees already submitted to

Collectorate.

The Tourist coming to Kadmat Island for Honeymoon Trips stay for 3, four days can visit

Amini island also by one hour Journey from Kadmat and see the important historical

places and Metrological observatory, Coir production Centre, Eastern side embarkation

Jetty and they can return the same day before sunset. More employment can be

generated by this way.

Internet Connectivity Internet Connectivity

: State Wide Area net Work connections for 21 Offices

completed successfully. In the 2nd phase it will cover 21 offices. At

present this facilities available at Port, Electricity, Press, Panchayat,

Pay and Accounts Office, All Schools etc. At present the system is

functioning well.

There are about 1804 Students are enrolled at Amini Schools

from 1st Standard to XIIth. All the Students are provided with

midday meals. About Rs. 9,19,301.16/- is due from

Government Senior Secondary School., Amini with effect from

210 Auigust to 17.09.2011 to the Coop. Society, Amini.

Necessary direction may please be issued to the Director of

Education/Director DOP to clear the dues to the Coop. Society,

Amini.

The land for the construction work of Sports Complex already

handed over to the PWD but the work has not yet started.

: The land for the construction of J.B. School North West

(SSA) already handed over to the PWD Amini, the work not

started.

: The J.B. School (Centre) Phase-II work not yet started.

The J.B. School Centre functioning in a private building by paying

about Rs. 50,000/- as its rent. Therefore necessary action may

please be taken to complete the Phase-III and remaining Phases

early.

There are sufficient Government lands available for the

construction of rain harvesting tank for the school children.

Necessary direction may please be issued to the Executive

Engineer, PWD Amini for the construction of Rain Harvesting Tank

in the premises of Schools in Government lands available there.

: There are some coconut Trees leaning to the football ground

which may cause disturbance and obstacles for the conduct of SGFI

and AIRS meet scheduled to be held during October 20th. The

Director Sports and Youth Affairs may be directed to deposit the

amount in favour of Land Acquisition Collector and sanction the

compensation amount to the coconut tree owners urgently for

cutting and removal of coconut trees which are hindrance to

football ground.

3 Nos. Coconut trees also leaning over the J.B.S (South) which may

cause obstruction for the construction work. Necessary fund may

please be provided for the cut and removal of the above trees.

Women & Child Development and Social Welfare:

The Department of Women & Child Development conducting Special

Nutrition Programmes to the Adolsent Girls, Members of Self Help Groups and

Breast feeding mothers. About 105 Adolescent girls, 324 Self Help Group

Members and 540 mothers thus a total of 969 beneficiaries were enrolled

under SNP.

: Besides, the department of Women and Child Development

conducting seminars and meeting for the above category of people for their

awareness on the occasions of Celebration of International Breast feeding

week and National Nutrition week. The Department also imparting training to

the women in tailoring and embroidery making. There are 12 Balawadies also

functioning under this department at Amini Island.

: The workers and helpers were not getting their Honorarium timely.

The staff recently posted under ICDS were also not getting their salaries

timely. Therefore, necessary action may pleased be taken to get their salaries

in time. For this reason one MSE already applied for transfer.

Health Issues

: Lady Doctor: Here at Amini Community Health Centre one permanent lady

doctor post is vacant. Dr. Shahida is a native of Minicoy Island already transferred and

posted at Amini. She has not joined at Amini. She was retained at Minicoy up to 15th

September, After 15th September she may be relieved and directed to report at Amini

Island. There are two more Lady doctors working at Minicoy Island. The Contract lady

doctor posted at Amini already gone to Delhi for appearing P.G. Entrance. Dr. Shahida

is the wife of Shri. Mohammed Nazeem, Assistant Engineer, PWD, Amini. Therefore,

there is no harm in posting Dr. Shahida to Amini Island.

: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Amini Island is not provided with split A.Cs,.

The Director, Medical and Health Services may be requested to provide Two Nos. Split

A.C to CHC Amini immediately for inaugurating the ICU. On inquiry it is revealed that

the amount for A.C has not been deposited by the Director, Medical and Health

services to P.W.D. Kindly take urgent action to deposit the amount to PWD, Then only

the Assistant engineer (ELE) will install A.C at ICU, CHC Amini.

: At present no generator is working at CHC

: Incinerator not installed.

Power/Electricity

: 250 KVA package transformer is also planned to be installed during the year.

Site for installing the transformer already identified.

: A new 750 KW DG set with sound proofing acoustic enclosure will also planned

to be installed during this current financial year at Amini Island.

: Extension of HT line by further 0.5 Km is also planned at Amini.

: For pollution controlling and the efficiency of the departments., Battery operated

vehicles may be provided to the Government servants and publics through Motor

Vehicle Department.

: For maintaining the street lights, the Electricity department may be re-entrusted

from Panchayat

Food & Civil Supplies: : A proposal for Supermarket already submitted to the Director

Food & Civil Supplies by demolishing existing Co-

operative Society.

: Land for LPG Godown already handed over to the PWD. But

no compensation for land and coconut trees paid to the

land owner..

: Rs. 9 Lakhs pending towards midday meals for payment to

the Cooperative Society , Amini with Director of

Pcnchayat/Director of Education. Several reminders

submitted by the Principal Govt. Senior Secondary School,

Amini. But no action so far taken in this regard.
