EAPI has a comprehensive year-round marketing campaign, which extends to a database of over 25,000 local, regional and global property stakeholders and investors. We work closely with a leading local public relations firm, a regional digital marketing team as well as media partners who disseminate content based emails and invites to their respective databases and promote the event through the various mediums and channels.
Key releases at EAPI 2016 included the release of Knight Frank’s Africa report, Broll Kenya’s logistics, retail and office report and JLL’s East Africa city reports.
Our specifically commissioned local PR Firm, African Laughter, distributed multiple press releases for the conference. They work with us and our sponsors in creating bespoke releases and interviews relating to relevant industry and regional news as it happens.
The programme was well thought through and the participants were by and large all interesting. Also it was interesting to get people from dierent background, including government, municipalities and pension funds.
The summit was very useful to most if not all players in the industry and the topics were relevant. I would highly recommend it to stakeholders in the industry.

ADDITIONAL KEY TOPICS TO BE COVERED: Hospitality, Mega Mixed Use Projects, Development Project Structuring & Occupier Demands
1.THE IMPACT OF ELECTIONS: The pre-election period featured increased government expenditure on infrastructure and favorable policy implementation resulting in a surge in real estate projects over the last four years. However, this period was also marked by lower transaction volumes, credit advancement and lower direct foreign investment. In such an unfolding and fluid environment, property specialists have to ask what innovative and successful models have been applied globally in similar situations?
2. DEBT & EQUITY FINANCING: Furthering access to cost-effective capital, moving from balance sheet funding to project backed funding and examining alternative funding solutions such as Islamic Finance, Development Finance Institutions (DFI’s) and emerging sources of financing.
3. THE REGIONAL PICTURE: A look into the Kampala City Transformation Project, Dar Rapid Transit System and the Kigali City Masterplan. How are these developments shaping the regional real estate market and which cities are attracting the most interest from investors?
4.UNCOVERING THE OPPORTUNITY IN KENYA’S COUNTIES: Revealing county development plans and bridging the gap between county government, land owners, private sector developers and investors.
5.WAREHOUSING & INDUSTRIAL BOOM: Uncovering the impact of special economic zones & tapping into East Africa’s fastest growing real estate sub-sector.
6.HOUSING: A detailed review of end-user and development financing, new innovative building solutions, emerging market case studies and collaboration on mass housing projects.
7. PENSION & INSTITUTIONAL CAPITAL: A special focus on current regulatory frameworks, available instruments, development and acquisition preferences as well as the potential impact ¬of East Africa’s pension funds on local and regional real estate markets.
8.THE EAST AFRICAN RETAIL SHAKE UP: Reviewing the fall of one of East Africa’s top retailers and the consequences for the rest of the market. How are landlords adapting, and how will this affect existing plans and new retailers entering the market?
9. THE TRANSFORMATION OF NAIROBI INTO A GLOBAL HUB: Focusing on development plans, urban regeneration initiatives as well as the Nairobi City Rivers project.
10. PUBLIC SECTOR INFLUENCE: Infrastructure and transportation, urban development and physical planning, State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and Sovereign Wealth Funds, how will they shape the future of East Africa’s real estate market?
The EAPI 2018 program will feature six forums. These subject focused panels will consist of four to six separate discussion sessions and are driven by our overall theme. Each forum will be focused on a specific topic and will unpack the subject matter in more detailed-orientated and concentrated sessions.
